the ter How can summer Ed fro be gone so fast? How does ito m r that happen? We here at the shop are totally jazzed for fall with all the exciting upcoming events and amazing teachers scheduled….maybe that is why summer just flew by. Or it may have been the fun trips I got to take this summer with my family… to the beach, the country and music city itself…Nashville, TN. This was a most memorable trip to Bernina University this year in Nashville. Quiltique was awarded some of the highest honors this year, recognizing our achievements in 2013. Quiltique came home with the District Dealer of the Year (out of 30 some dealers) and also made the list as one of the Top 10 dealers in the country (number 9 to be exact). I want to personally thank the A-MAZE-ING team we have here at Quiltique. They are truly the rock stars of the sewing community and they prove it every single day. This BERNINA achievement also reflects mostly on our local, loyal customers that support us right here in the Las Vegas area. Without you, these high honors would not be possible. It’s time again for Quiltique’s 4th Annual Sew Street Market…the ultimate sewing swap meet! We will be inviting our customers to be your customers for the day at this fun outdoor event. If your creative space is overflowing with fabric, patterns, and notions that you no longer love, it is time for you to gather them up. This is your chance to turn that stash into CASH by selling it to someone else at our Sew Street Market! Rent a table for $30 and sell any sewing-related items you’d like. Items may include fabric, notions, used sewing machines or sergers, new or vintage quilts, craft supplies, and unfinished projects too. You may sell your finished projects and crafts as well as we love to have a mix of gently used and new at our market. In addition to easy template making and how to make and use a placement for appliqué, you will perfect your invisible appliqué stitch as you work on your block in class. Learn to applique with attitude the Piece O’ Cake way! Sunshine-y flowers bloom over a very cute house in this block from the book, The Best-Ever Appliqué Sampler. However, you will add a fun twist to your house because your stitches for the applique, not only hold the applique in place, they embellish as well. The edge of the appliquéed house and flower is needle-turned and sewn with Perle cotton. This applique method is fast and fun and very cute! Having a family member in the military that is deployed can be a harrowing experience. It is so easy to take our “normal” lives for granted not realizing the sacrifices that our men and women of the military, and their loved ones, make for our country every day. This challenge is to help give back to those men and women and their families who give so much for our freedoms. Because of the Brave, a Moda fabric line, was designed by Stephanie Hove, a 2nd generation Moda sales representative, with the help of her husband, Tom, a war veteran, to honor the many who serve our great country. In conjunction with Because of the Brave fabrics, Moda Fabrics is introducing the Piece and Comfort Challenge to recognize and honor the sacrifices that are made by our country’s military families. Proceeds from this challenge will benefit USACares.org whose mission is to assist military families in the time of need. Moda Fabrics has chosen and partnered with USA Cares, a nonprofit organization that focus’ on the families of our military soldiers as much as it does the men and women who serve. USA Cares has responded to over 50,000 requests for assistance with over $11 million in indirectsupport grants to military families in need of medical assistance, job assistance and financial assistance.
