It’s time to sit back, relax and sew!

Whether you are a local or visiting from afar, we welcome you to our shop and classroom where it is nice and cool during these hot summer months. Peruse these pages and find something that fits your fancy. Maybe it’s a class, or maybe a new project to start, but either way you can’t go wrong with pursuing your passion to create this summer.

Letter from the Editor

Hello, my wonderful and creative people! What have you been up to? Have you been quilting lately? Have you been hand stitching? Seems a lot of you have picked up the slow stitching “bug” lately. My mom was an avid and amazing stitcher. Cross-stitching was her “thing” before she discovered quilting. She taught Kara and I long ago when we were young. Unfortunately, it didn’t stick. She taught my grandma who also did amazing work, which we will have forever. Cross stitch is one of those great creative things that you can travel easily with, unlike quilting, making it the perfect summer project. Have you seen our expanding selection of cross-stitching and hand embroidery items? It is like your fabric stash…it keeps growing. There are some pretty, fun, and modern patterns out now which are inspiring a whole new generation of stitchers. I hope you will take time to stop in and see what’s new! Plus, we have several handwork classes to support you on your stitching journey and I think you will find something that fits whether you are new to it or never stitched in a hoop before.

You may also find that we have put a brief hold on our quilting basics or “how to” classes. Just for the summer so not to worry. Many of you travel during these months and the attendance can be spotty at best. So, we decided to give our amazing teachers some time off too and we promise to get right back at it come September. You can always book a new one-on-one session with one of our teachers if there is something that you just can’t wait to learn.

One last thing to note…we are reducing our hours just for the summer. We will be closing at 3pm instead of 5pm, May 1st through August. The honest truth is that it is not very busy during the late afternoon, and we will be focusing on catching up on some tasks. If there is something you absolutely need you can always give us a call to see if we are available to help. We will be working during these times behind closed doors and if you need something we can try to accommodate you.

I hope that you all have an amazing summer! Whether you spend some time with us (which is my recommended choice, of course) or travelling to see a new part of the world (which is also my recommendation), be sure to make it memorable. Happy Sewing!

2ND ANNUAL

QUILTIQUE GIVES BACK DAY AUGUST 10TH

While Quiltique is no stranger to giving back, last year we committed to celebrating an annual Quiltique Gives Back Day. Every August, we will have a day in which we can all gather our resources together and do our part to help others in need. Therefore, our 2nd Annual Quiltique Gives Back Day, will be Saturday, August 10th and will benefit our local community, specifically Ryan’s Case for Smiles Las Vegas Chapter.

Ryan’s Case for Smiles is one the few volunteer organizations solely dedicated to helping kids feel better to heal better. While other great organizations focus on research and finding a cure, Ryan’s Case for Smiles works to improve the quality of life of children and their families as they undergo treatment. Watch this video here to learn all about the charity’s work and how you can get involved! With every stitch, every yard of fabric and every pillowcase, Ryan’s Case for Smiles gets one step closer to their goal of helping kids with cancer and life-changing illnesses feel better to heal better.

To do our part, on August 10th, we will open our classroom space to those of you who would like to help sew pillowcases for this great cause. Quiltique will supply all the fabrics necessary to make these pillowcases, we just need you to bring your machine and your willingness to help stitch. Due to limited space in our classroom, we just ask that you sign up to reserve your spot.

If you can’t join us this day, there are other ways you can help! We will be needing volunteers to wash fabrics prior to the event. If you can help with this, please contact Stori at the shop to help. If you want to sew at home anytime, you can find directions and resources to make your pillowcases by clicking here. Should you choose to donate money instead, you can always help monetarily by clicking here. We will also be a permanent drop spot for any pillowcases you sew for Ryan’s Case for Smiles in the future.

Finally, Quiltique will donate 25% of our net proceeds from sales on August 10th to Ryan’s Case for Smiles to assist them and their mission of helping kids and their families with cancer. We invite you all to come do what you love to do…shop for fabric! Or make it a new sewing machine! The more you purchase that day, the more you can help.

Christmas in July

Get a jump on Christmas projects with us this July! We have scheduled some “after hour” Make and Take small projects just to get you started and inspired. These sessions are scheduled 4pm - 7pm, but if you can't make it until a little later that's not a problem. Come when you can and join the fun! This is an open time to be creative, socialize and get out of the July heat, all while making some early holiday cheer.

No supplies are needed! We will have everything here for you to use (except for your embroidery machine). Join us for one evening or multiple and get ahead of the holiday rush. Please see page 8 for projects, dates and times.

Upcoming Block of the Month Programs for 2024

AU NATURAL – April 1, 2024

Now Available as a Complete Kit for $280 This delicately colored queen quilt has been designed with Lisa Audit’s beautiful Au Naturel collection from Wilmington Prints as an 8-month Block of the Month program. Quilt size is 93.5” square. This program has begun but it’s not too late to catch up! Cost per month is $35 with a $10 enrollment fee.

SECRET GARDEN – scheduled to being May 15th

Shelley Cavanna of Cora’s Quilts has done it again! The Secret Garden 12month Block of the Month program is scheduled to begin in May of 2024. Quilt size is 80” x 92”. Quiltique will also offer 108” backing options with this kit. Cost is $25 per month plus a $10 enrollment fee. Pre-registration begins now!

THE QUILTED WITCH

JULIETTE – scheduled to begin June 15th

The Juliette 9-month Block-of-the-month program features the new Juliette fabric collection from Angela Nickeas by Wilmington Prints. The medallion-style queen quilt is 90” x 98” with a square layout of 12” and 8” blocks. This program is scheduled to begin mid-June 2024. Cost per month is $35 with a $10 enrollment fee. Pre-registration begins now!

The Bloom & Grow pattern was written by Amanda Murphy with piecers in mind, so each section starts out by telling you exactly how to set up the machine – including the thread, feet, and stitch settings that you want to use. We promise you don’t have to be an expert at serging when you start – but you will be comfortable with it by the end of this project! And don’t forget, with an L 890 there are tutorials right on the screen!
