Easter Bunny’s on his way! It is April 6th today (yes a few weeks ago from when you are probably reading this) and at least we have a mild Spring day here in Las Vegas. It has been a real roller coaster of a weather pattern here in the West, but I have been all for it. Keeps us on our toes and shakes things up. Speaking of keeping you on your toes, we have had lots of changes around here in the shop. You may or may not have noticed. There are even some fun rumors going around this small community of sewists. I just want you all to rest assured that everything is just fine here on the home front.
We are celebrating our 20th Anniversary in just a weeks’ time and we are looking forward to 20 more with you. I can remember that first crazy, exciting day when we opened our doors. So many of you that were there that day are still loyal customers. That is a true testament for us and we can’t express how much you all mean to us. From customers to true friends and even like family, many of you have become. We love you all so much and are so excited for many more years to come. Thank you for the love and support you have shown us, and we are grateful for you all.
You may have noticed that we are clearing out our inventory of Baby Lock machines. While we have enjoyed collaborating and supporting this brand, we have made a tough decision to close out our inventory. Sometimes things just don’t work out how you had hoped for, but we wholeheartedly enjoyed our time with these machines and all the great people this brand has brought us along the way. If you are a Baby Lock customer of ours, please know that we are here to help and support you during this transition. We can continue to service your machine and if you need more than that, there is another great dealership here in Las Vegas to help you. If you have been thinking about owning a Baby Lock, please don’t hesitate to get a great deal from Bob while you still can.
Now, let’s get excited about what is coming up this summer! We know this time of year usually means lots of fun trips out of town, and that is fantastic. Just make sure you schedule some sewing time for yourself or join us for one of the many all-day sewing opportunities in our classroom. It will be like a sewing vacation for you…or a SEWcation! Wait…we have an official SEWcation on the schedule in July for two stitch filled days and an Ice Cream SEWcial in the shop the same weekend. That means if you join us for the SEWcation, you won’t miss out on any Ice Cream on Saturday. Now that is Double Dipping!

While Quiltique is no stranger to giving back, we have decided to make an official Quiltique Gives Back Day. Our plan is every August to have a day that we can all gather our resources together and do our part to help others in need. Therefore, our 1st Annual Quiltique Gives Back day, will benefit our local community, specifically the Clark County Department of Family Services and Child Haven.
When children are removed from their homes and placed into protective custody, they have few, if any, of their personal belongings. The Department of Family Services provides a large duffel sized bag filled with new clothing, toys and other essential items to children when they depart the Child Haven campus to live with relatives or in a foster home. Additionally, the Department provides essential items to keep at-risk families together while going through crisis; to meet some of the needs of children already placed in foster care; and to meet some of the needs of families who are being reunited with their children.
The Department does not receive funding to purchase the bags and their contents, or the other items provided to families. They rely on the generosity of community partners and kind citizens like you to help supply these necessities.
To do our part, on August 5th, we will open our classroom space to those of you who would like to help sew bags for this great cause. Quiltique will supply all the fabrics necessary to make these bags, we just need you to bring your machine and your willingness to help stitch. Due to limited space in our classroom, we just ask that you sign up to reserve your spot.
In addition, we will be collecting supplies to fill these bags. New and gently used items are needed to ensure that Family Services can continue to assist families and children in need. You can find a full donation wish list here. Should you choose to donate items, Quiltique will have a $10 Stash Cash waiting for you for your kind donation.
Finally, Quiltique will also donate 25% of our net proceeds from sales on August 5th to Child Haven to assist them and their mission of helping the most vulnerable children of Clark County. We invite you all to come do what you love to do…shop for fabric! Or make it a new sewing machine! The more you purchase that day, the more you can help.

This radiating new Chromatic Beauty Block of the Month Quilt design features Maywood Studio’s gorgeous Gelato Ombre fabrics! The combination of a rich, black background and shaded ombre’s makes this quilt glow from within. There are just nine different fabrics, but because of the ombre effect, you have the benefit of many more tones and shades.
The Chromatic Beauty design is 97” square and features beautiful angles and movement. The pattern will include templates for many of the blocks, making this quilt accessible to moderately skilled quilters. Add some dynamic quilting and you have a spectacular finish.
Chromatic Beauty is a 12-month BOM program which will begin September 15th. The cost of this program is $22 per month plus a $25 enrollment fee. This includes all fabrics to make the quilt including binding. Printed full color pattern is also included. Backing is sold separately. Signups begin now!

A charm pack is a wonderful quilters cut designed to be put right to use without a lot of cutting and trimming. Many quilt designers have charm pack quilts that go together quickly and easily. The simple yet effective quilts that charms make show off a nice block of fabric which provides so much inspiration!
Each student will receive small cuts of fabric to work with, dye, fixatives, print paste, corn dextrin and potato dextrin. You will also receive a selection of interesting smallscale stencils which Cindy calls Dit-Dots or support fabrics.
After making a collection of potato and corn dextrin print blocks, you will mix 21 different colors of dye paint out of 3 colors of dye. Then you will use this thickened dye paint to dye your print blocks, as well as make some hand painted "artsy solid" complimentary blocks to mash up in your quilt. You will dye enough blocks for 2 full charm packs - one prints pack and one solids pack.

Starting with black fabric, we will safely strip the color out of the fabric before recoloring with dye. This fun technique creates dramatic pieces with lots of design and contrast, each a quilter's playground! Your imagination is your only limitation!

Having worked in textiles and fabric dyeing for over 30 years, Cindy Lohbeck is truly a DYEHARD at heart! She started Hands On Hand Dyes in 2007, to share her love of textile arts through an extensive line of fabric dyeing kits. Believing in the right tools for the job, her helpful kits and classes are full of tools, tips and tricks, and have helped thousands of quilters and crafters share in the empowering experience of dyeing their own fabric. Humor, productivity and organization are key components to her fabric dyeing workshops, making them among the favorites at quilt shows, fabric shops, retreats and guild events, across the nation.
Pre-requisite for all other quilting classes if you have never quilted before.
This beginning quilting program is designed to take you from your first cut to your last stitch and enjoy the process each step of the way. You will learn everything about making a quilt including choosing the best quilting tools and fabrics, rotary cutting with accuracy, block assembly, attaching your borders. You will finish this 5-week course with a complete quilt – made by you! Basic sewing knowledge is required and there is sewing homework between classes. Join us for a live virtual Colour Inspiration Lecture from the master himself, Kaffe Fassett here at Quiltique! This Kaffe Fassett lecture is designed to inspire you and motivate you to use color not just in your quilts but in your everyday life. Our newly named Class Kickoff Day is coming soon! This is the first opportunity you will have to get signed up for our summer class lineup. Summer classes can be unpredictable so get your dates together and be ready! As a reminder of our new policy, you may also sign up on our website starting this day (instead of having to wait) which is new for 2023! When you sign up on Class Kickoff Day, or any day going forward, you will receive up to 25% off on class patterns, class supplies and class kits on the day you sign up for the class.
Please note that you can sign up for any Special Event classes, BOM or Mastery classes at any time but no regular class sign-ups will be accepted prior to Class Kickoff Day on the 6th. 2023 Star Club Members can sign up a day early on Friday, May 5th.
