What type of Key won’t open any doors?

A turKEY!

Hey guys! I hope your Halloween was Spook-Tacular! (Pun Intended) Since the holidays are right around the corner why not do some service projects that can benefit those who are less fortunate than we are. Some ideas are feeding the homeless, working at your local food bank, or even sponsoring a family who cannot afford to buy Thanksgiving Dinner—the opportunities are endless. Needless to say, continue to serve your homes, schools and communities during the holiday season! If you ever have any questions don’t hesitate to contact me! Have a great November! Yours in Service, Jennifer Roca.

Let’s show everyone what we’re all about! Monday, Show your K in every way:

Tuesday, Kudos to the Key Players:

Show people what Key Club is all about! Spread the word by wearing Key Club gear and publicizing Key Club Week in local stores, your school Web site, community newspapers—even on the radio. Officially announce Key Club Week in your community with a proclamation and refer to the Key Club public relations manual to get great tips on how to publicize Key Club in your community.

Personally thank all the Key Club supporters you know—teachers, advisors and other Key players. Write thank-you notes, host an appreciation dinner, recognize members of the month and officers of the month who have done great things for your club, or do something uniquely your own style to recognize the contributions of these special people.

Wednesday, Connect the K’s: Key Club is the largest high school service organization in the world and is a member of the Kiwanis family. Celebrate the entire family of Kiwanis by getting the whole gang involved. Connect with local Kiwanis, Circle K International, Builders, Kiwanis Kids or Aktion clubs and team up for a joint service project or Social!

All these days are interchangeable! Make them fit your Key Club’s Schedule!

Thursday, Bring a Friend to Key Club:

Friday, Do it Your Way!

More members = more service. Increasing the amount of service Key Club performs increases the impact Key Club has on the world. Bring a friend, or two, or more to your next Key Club meeting.

This is your club’s chance to do its own thing and make its mark. Pick a project, plan a recruitment party or combine activities from the other Key Club Week days. Whatever idea you choose, take it and run with it.

Step-by-step instructions to the MUC: 1. Go to www.keyclub.org/MUC to access the Membership Update Center. 2. Click “Register/Reset Password.” Clubs with only new faculty members should do this! Clubs with faculty members from last year may use the same information as last year. 3. You’ll be prompted to enter an email address. The faculty advisor must then enter his/her email address. He/She should receive a confirmation email informing he/she that his/her email address has been recognized and providing him/her with a unique hyperlink which will allow him/her to set his/her own, new password to access the Membership Update Center whenever he/she would like. 4. If your faculty advisor’s email has been rejected, then you will need to email memberservices@kiwanis.org with a request to update your club’s faculty advisor contact information before you can set yourself a password and get into the system. Once your information is updated, then you should be able to go through the process detailed in step 3. 5. After you have set a new password for your club, then you will be able to log into the Membership Update Center in future years using your advisor’s email address and your personal password., Please see the Kiwanis help video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-gV47UE5uas).

Don’t forget to mail your reports on or before the 5th of every month! Get credit for all the hard work your club does! Be sure to email the reports to myself, our Regional Advisor Ms. Newsham and your Kiwanis Advisor! This is now required by bylaws! Clubs in the Top 25: Mansfield Summit High School Venus High School Congratulations you guys! Don’t get discouraged if you’re not in the Top 25! You can still get there! You have until DCON, so keep working hard and your work will pay off!

DCON might seem far away, but it is right around the corner! We have about 6 months until DCON 2014! Be sure to save some funds in your account to help members attend, speak to your Kiwanis Club about how much they can fund you and let your members know they might have to pay part of their way there! Also, start thinking about if your club wants to be a part of Team Pan or Team Hook! Dress as the side you would like to be a part of and join in the fun!
