Meet a Motivated Mompreneur

Leila Kanzler Multipassionate Entrepreneur Industrial Engineer Life-Long Learner Happy Mom & Wife Please tell us a little about you and how you serve mompreneurs. Born and Raised in Mexico, with the help of my parents that I love I graduated from College with an Engineering Degree, I moved to the US back in 2005, with a broken English and lots to learn I was able to build a successful career in a male dominant environment. As I high achiever I had great dreams for my future and I was on the ‘’right path’’ until I met the love of my life. We decided to start a new life together and in less than a month we were making plans to get married and have a baby. One day and with the support of my husband I decided to place my career on hold. At the moment I had no plans, just hopes and dreams. I never imagined what was coming but here we are 3 years later, starting to leave our happily ever after. How long have you been in business? Gosh!- I can’t remember...I have had a business since I was 7 years old. Story tells that I was selling fruit door by door to the neighbors. Over the years I have had different kinds of businesses from making and selling jewelry to husband and I having a vintage boutique, also cleaning

www.MotivatedMompreneurs.com

and organizing houses as well as joining an MLM selling makeup for a little while, we also love buying old furniture to resell... and now my consulting business. What motivated and inspired you to start your own business? The money exchange!- I have always been fascinated by the fact that we give and receive, or exchange one thing for another. Also, the opportunity to serve others with a solution to a problem they are having or just to satisfy their needs and wants has always been so motivating to me. What is your personal and business mission and vision statement? I am not sure if I have a well written statement but this is what I know… My personal and business mission is To help you help others!...To empower women to lead with confidence. To lift off the weight off their shoulders so that they can be set free and as a result help others. I personally stand for freedom and that is the reason behind the work I do and to eliminate vulnerability for you and me so that we never feel trapped in circumstances were we feel hopeless.

Volume 1 Issue 3 April 2019 11

Meet a Motivated Mompreneur What steps did you take to get things going in the beginning? I had to let go of my ego!- Thinking that I had to have all the answers was a big barrier for me to move forward. Also, I had to stop trying to be the hero or the superwoman of the story. I had to ask for help, and what is most important I had to learn to listen. Listen to my body, to my family, to my clients and to my soul... What has been the most effective way of raising awareness of your business and getting new customers? I think this is very unique and it is different for each of us. For me it has been a little bit of a lot, from showing up, being vulnerable, getting out of my comfort zone, practicing mindset work, self care, learning, trying, messing things up, opening doors… and the best techique to just try new things until you find the one that works for you! What challenges have you faced and how did you overcome them? I went into depression after I left my career and became a stay home mom. I never knew why I was not completely happy for having that opportunity, I love and adore my little family but I wanted more than motherhood, and I was feeling guilty for wanting my career back. I felt like I had to choose between family and career and of course my family was first. I also struggled with anxiety. All this was caused for many reasons, I isolated myself from the world, the financial struggles of just one paycheck, not being used to be financially dependant, even when I am so grateful for my husband that supports me and my dreams, I was used to make my own money…

12 Motivated Mompreneurs

Can you tell us about any habits you have/things you do, which set up success everyday. I do a lot of mindset work and practice self care. I always have someone by my side helping me or teaching me, whether that is a coach or listening to a podcast. I’ve also started journaling, meditating and practicing affirmations and believe me, this is hard for me to do but it has helped me to lower my anxiety. And reserving time for myself and paying attention to my body. All these things started as random tasks, they are now starting to be nonnegotiable. How do you balance taking care of your children and running your business? I get help, I am proud to have such as supportive husband, he has been by my side and shares the ups and downs with me. My daughter started to attend daycare so that I can focus. And I am starting to build my own team to help my business grow. Are there any books that you would recomend to help mompreneurswith their business? I do not have a favorite book but I do recommend to read What advice would you give to other mompreneurs who are just starting their business? If life gives you lemons, sell them! Any other thoughts that you would like to share with other motivated mompreneurs? We are in the business of helping people, please do not forget to help yourself and pay yourself for the services rendered… www.MotivatedMompreneurs.com

Your Business is a of

Reflection You by Leila Kanzler

Once upon a time there lived a happy family in a little town in a far, far away land. The father had a 9 to 5 job, he would go to work 5 days a week just to receive a paycheck and they all lived happily ever after…. The end!---

houses, roads, industrial plants! Then when he started his own company he found freedom, the freedom we all seek. Having a business is not always easy for the family of the entrepreneur, and even we we see the perfect picture posted all over social media as to what freedom means to them, today Well, no that is not my story….and maybe I want to share what freedom is like for me that is why I am not ‘’normal’’. and my family. When Jennifer asked me to write this article I had not idea as to what to share. I mean, there is nothing interesting about me as ‘’me’’, well there is! But one thing I know about storytelling is that in order for me to share an interesting story I have to have a strong character and that would be my parents. Writing my story without talking about my parents would be impossible, they are after all these years my driving force. My dad has always had the entrepreneur spirit in him. His passion for construction was spread all over his children like a magic dust. Growing up with him was and still is such a blessing in disguise for me, I now know he is a visionary, back then I just believed he was different(ok, crazy) for wanting different things. We were never the typical family, the family that had structure, with a regular job, and regular things a normal family have.

My mom plays such an important role in this story also, her unconditional love, caring heart and dedication to all of us is what keeps me going. I often feel like behind the fragile and delicate woman we all see there is this strong woman and I like to think of her as our Knight in Shining Armor. The one defending us, protecting us from everything around us. All this time, she has been there for me acting as my sounding board, my best friend, accomplice, theraphyst, counselor and mentor, teaching me, grounding me, dreaming with me and often for me. She is the best mom I could have asked for. I admire her persistence, and I can’t help but notice all the work behind the scenes she did and continues to do for all the family. Her love for life and happiness are contagious. With her things are way different than my dad, he is more mechanical and with her is more about love, feelings and dreams.

Having a job for him was never his thing, and even when he did work for other construction companies he was always pulled towards All these aspects are the perfect match for bigger projects. Always learning new ways what I can tell, at least it has been for me as and always surprising the world by building, their daughter, each of them on their own way 14 Motivated Mompreneurs

or together make the perfect combination. I thank my parents that continue to give us me and my crazy brothers the tools, and support we need to live our lives the way we want to. I look at all of them and I feel so proud, each of us decide what we want and just go for it and is all possible because our family makes us strong. Watching my 3 year old daughter mimic us makes me remember that I was once the daughter. And now all these years later I am still seeking the same. I want what my dad has, the freedom to create and to build and to do and to be, to feel inspired and accomplished by my own results. And now I want to inspire the same for my daughter. I want to sprinkle some of that magic dust over her, give her the opportunity to believe in what is possible...maybe entrepreneurship won’t be her thing but I surely want for her to be able to be make her own decisions the same way my dad did for me. And now is the turn to talk about my husband, I discovered true love when we became a family, and he has been there by my side picking up the pieces of what I have broken and celebrating success with me when things do work. The patience, love and support I get from him are a big part of my support system. Seeing my daughter grow up and being able to be here fully present for her and by her side is priceless and I owe that to him. He supported my crazy dreams, stood there when I cried and fixed what I broke in many occasions… My daughter has this little phrase “pappa will fix it” every time something is not working and I believe it to be true. I love those two very much…

on my own terms. You see, I have a great life and I am thankful for every step I took that brings me closer and closer to be the woman I dream to be, confident, empowered, living my purpose, celebrating success, making bold moves, financially independent, being heard and seen and able to build a life I love. Ever since I remembered I’ve had this vision to help small businesses grow, I treasure the opportunity I now have. My passion, my expertise and my heart are now incorporated into everything I do. I am multipassionate and I decided to apply all those passions in my business, whether I let the engineer in me take things a part, or allow the little girl in me toy with new ideas, or take the day off to go on a date with my husband, perhaps redecorate my office every other month or sit down and draft a blueprint for my next big project, I can do that because I am free to decide… but I did not get here just because, I am here because I have dreams, and I let my passion guide me, I seek a clear vision and I am not alone, my team, my clients, my parents, my brothers, my husband and daughter are there with me, and all because I decided to believe that is all possible. And every time I look in the mirror I think, I am what I want to be, I am where I want to be and I know where I am going! I want to give special mention to Jennifer Insignares for this incredible opportunity and for all the work and dedication to her magazine and community, to Rosie Nuñez who took this incredible picture of me and my daughter for the cover. To my my parents, Dolores and Tomas, my brothers Tomas, Gilberto and Ruben and my husband Kris and our daughter Emilee… and to God for making it all happen...

I look at my own life now, I work from home, doing what I love and helping others do the same. I am surrounded by visionary women, and that inspires me, entrepreneurship is not easy, but I do not want easy, I refuse to have a balanced or normal life if that is what it takes, I want to learn more and try With lots of love, new things and meet new people and make Leila Anani mistakes and fix what is broken and live life www.MotivatedMompreneurs.com

The Alignment of

Motivation and Mindset: How You Make a Shift in Your Life by Balancing the Two.

by JaTorra Commodore Growing up I always had the motivation to do well. We didn’t have much but I knew a focus on my education was going to be my way out. So I put a lot of effort into any task I had to accomplish but there was one thing that was a step behind- my mindset. I had the worst outlook on life- talk about the cliche glass half empty, I was the poster child. I always thought of the negative so I wouldn’t be let down, so I wouldn’t get disappointed. I also always thought you were born with your strengths and talents so, if something didn’t come naturally or easy to me or that I wasn’t cut out for, it made no sense in trying something and getting disappointed if I didn’t do well. It wasn’t until just a few years ago when I was introduced to Carol S. Dweck’s book “Mindset: The New Psychology of Success” during a teachers’ book club that things became much more clear to me, that there was an untapped area in me that I could go out and actually “challenge” myself to accomplish. That year, as I was trying to motivate my students to do better and be better, to use this new growth mindset lingo that I learned I too was capable of seeing that glass half full.

16 Motivated Mompreneurs

While it has taken me a few years to change and develop my mindset, once I was fully committed to myself and my growth the transformation hit pretty much instantaneously. One facet of growth that I had to use constantly to drown out the fear in my head was affirmations and motivational quotes by motivational speakers. You could find me listening to motivational speeches in the morning while getting ready for work or on the long hour commute to and from work. Inspirational Wallpaper in my phone or affirmations hanging in my office/sacred space. Chanting affirmations or mantras repeatedly to get my mind unstuck from the fear and negativity engraved in me since young and self-inflicted might I add. One of my favorite motivational speakers Les Brown says, “too many of us are not living our dreams because we are living our fears.” For a very long time I let fear stifle me from becoming more. I let fear trap me into saying, “this is where your strengths lie you don’t have the capacity to go any further.” I was too ashamed to reveal my weaknesses. “In a growth mindset challenges are exciting rather than threatening. So rather than thinking, Oh, I’m going to reveal my weaknesses, you say, wow, here’s a chance to grow.”- Carol S. Dweck

As a mompreneur, whether you are contemplating, on the brink of starting your own business, or in the thick of growing your business you have to constantly keep your motivation and mindset in alignment. And it is no easy feat. “The only thing that’s keeping you from getting what you want is the story you keep telling yourself.” -Tony Robbins. This quote leads me to believe that you have more control over the two than you think. It totally resonated with me because for so many years I kept telling myself I wasn’t any more than what I was showing up as, there was not much more growth because I was grown. However, this is where my motivation shifted from the outward of doing to looking inward for what I really wanted, and asked

myself what was my drive for doing more than what I had already accomplished. What I learned along my journey to evolving my dream to become an entrepreneur is it’s an everyday battle to keep these two in alignment; Motivation and Mindset. Believe me some days are better than others and some days I feel one of them shift a bit but it’s that balancing act when you see one shifting you have to dig deep remind yourself “why” and get back in alignment. Something I learned from a super passionate and dedicated life coach.

Here is how you too can make the shift in your life to grow where you are into what you “really” want to be.

1

Know your strengths and strengthen your weaknesses. Carol Dweck’s philosophy on Growth Mindset has opened people’s eyes and minds into the notion that you really can make anything a reality for yourself. We all have gifts and strengths that show naturally and then there are those areas that we have to work harder at, push more and challenge ourselves. Here is where I believe “grit” plays a huge part. Grit is passion and perseverance for long-term goals. Grit isn’t talent or luck. It also isn’t how badly, for the moment you want something. Grit is about a goal you care about so intensely that it gives your life meaning, and even when things come apart at the seams or flounder, you are devoted to that goal and willing to do whatever it takes.

Volume 1 Issue 3 April 2019 17

2 Forget about just your “Why” and focus on your “Empowering Why”: To steer motivation and keep it aligned with your mindset one should seek to figure out their “why” because it drives us and motivates us to stay the course. There usually is that bigger reason why you chose the path you are on or to shift gears a bit. However, in my experience that is not enough. Your whys have to be empowering! Dig deep and ask yourself, “Why do I want to achieve this goal?” “If I do not achieve this goal what will be the consequence or pain that you will experience. In the end, it really isn’t about the goal but what motivates towards those particular goals. In the words of Henry David Thoreau, “What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals.” You need a purpose or you won’t feel motivated to do it. Better yet the motivation will expire quickly. Tony Robbins uses what he calls the pleasure, pain principle, (PPP) to access leverage and states, “you must help someone associate massive pain to not changing now, and massive pleasure to changing immediately. The motivation is based on both pain and pleasure. Pain is short-term motivation, but you need the pleasure side for long-term motivation. In order to create lasting change, we must use pain to get people’s attention and motivate them to want to make the change, but then we must link pleasure to the new pattern to make it last.

3 Failure could be an option It took me a long time to come to grips with this and to this day fear pops in because I still get worried about failure. “The greatest prison people live in is the fear of what other people think.” -Les Brown. Most of the time it is not ourselves who think we are failures, but that other people will think it. We close off ourselves to so much opportunity and growth because we are afraid of what is on the other side. There’s a quote that goes: giving up on your goals because of one setback is like slashing your other three tires because you got a flat. Realizing that failure comes with the territory of taking risks and doing the unimaginable is only going to keep you in the race. One step ahead, one day closer to your goal. Of course we want to think positively in keeping in line with a growth mindset, as the word failure could have a negative connotation. However, if you see failure as an ingredient for success no matter how big or small, you will be able to persevere, and in true fashion keep motivation and your mindset aligned. In the famous words of Kid President- If at first you don’t succeed- you’re normal! 18 Motivated Mompreneurs

4 Enjoy the Process Alignment of mindset and motivation is hard work. It could be easier for some but nonetheless, the journey is what truly matters. As Ernest Hemingway puts it, It’s good to have an end to journey toward but it is the journey that matters in the end. If you are only focused on the end game you’ll miss the smaller plays along the way. It’s in these smaller moments where the real joys reveal themselves. The smaller moments set you up for the big finale. When you can enjoy the journey and savor in every step that brought you to your goal or dream you can appreciate it so much more. Along the way remember your empowering why. It will keep you motivated when times get rough, when things aren’t going the way you expected, just remember why you are on this journey. Having a growth mindset throughout the process will separate the ones who truly want to make that change in their life whether it be personal or a career move. You have to remember to be kind to yourself, give yourself grace during the process, but also be your biggest cheerleader especially on those days when you may feel defeated and question your motives. Step into the mindset of waking up early and meditating, going for a walk, listening to motivational speakers, putting up and speaking affirmations to yourself daily. It will make the journey all the more enjoyable and worth it in the end.

These four tools have propelled me to where I am today. Wife, mother, teacher, and especially a budding entrepreneur. There was a lot of self doubt and fear of the unknown from very early on that continued into my adult life. It wasn’t until I started digging deep and asking myself the hard questions and then stopping and listening to what the universe was saying back to me that I realized my true potential lies within me. I had to and still have to motivate myself when the challenge becomes too deep and it’s easy to stay with what is familiar. I have to stay in the mindset of growth and positivity, use grit on the days when I am ready to throw in the towel. It all goes back to my “empowering why” and overcoming the pain to get to the pleasure. -JaTorra Commodore

Sales funnels and Automation can Make you How

Successful as an Entrepreneur Mom. by Melissa Ricker

Almost every time I first say the word “funnel” to my clients and business partners, I get a very similar reaction. I can practically hear their eyes glaze over on the phone, and I can definitely hear the fear creep into their voice. Is funnel a scary word? Thinking back, I suppose it was for me too when I first got started. Ironically, it is now what I specialize in! I help moms launch and automate their businesses using funnels. Why? Because I have seen the number of moms who give up on their dreams because they simply cannot fit in everything they need to do to make money in their businesses with the limited time they have (cuz let’s get real … balancing businesses and babies isn’t always a walk in the park). The solution? Funnels. Seriously. And they aren’t that scary.

26 Motivated Mompreneurs

www.MotivatedMompreneurs.com

What are Funnels Anyway? A sales funnel is simply a process that leads people who have an interest in what you do or what you have to offer through a process with the ultimate goal of converting some of those people into paid clients or customers. The idea behind a sales funnel is to convert leads to prospects and prospects to customers. There are many types of sales funnels that range in complexity, but the purpose is ultimately the same. As a business owner, you drive traffic to your funnel and some of that traffic will convert to money in your pocket. The best part of a funnel is that it can weed out the serious from the curious. It can literally go out into the depths of the internet and find the perfect people for our business. We all know that the more niched down our business is, the better we will ultimately do. And we also know (or at least I’ve learned this lesson the hard way) that we don’t want to work with everyone. And a funnel can do all of that work for us.

What Type of Businesses Benefit from Funnels? Every. Single. One. There isn’t a business that I’ve run across that couldn’t use a good funnel or two. In fact, I run multiple income streams using funnels, and they are all thriving because of it. ¾¾ I build my entire network marketing business using online funnels. I recruit motivated business builders and customers who are ready to buy, and it is completely automated. ¾¾ I make a hefty side income from affiliate marketing … promoting (you guessed it) funnels! I created a massive offer for anyone who signs up through my link … and I send over my exact high-converting funnel templates. ¾¾ I fill my high-ticket coaching programs with a funnel that leads highly qualified prospects to a phone conversation. But it isn’t only online businesses that can use funnels. Local brick and mortar, service based businesses, bloggers, crafting businesses, eCommerce, franchises of all kinds … I seriously cannot think of a business that wouldn’t benefit from a funnel.

How Many Funnels do I Need? I’m a bit of a funnel geek. I’ve been creating and building funnels for 3 years and have probably built at least 200 funnels. Maybe more. I’m a nerd. But because I’m a nerd, I have tweaked and tested enough to determine that most businesses really only need two funnels to be successful. The content in our funnel is strategically designed to talk to one person - our ideal client avatar. But there are two versions of that person we need to speak to. One is ready now, and the other isn’t as far in their journey. 1. The version of our ideal client that is SOOOO ready to work with us (like yesterday). This person is completely over the struggle that you solve with your business and is ready to invest. This is the person that needs a more direct funnel. They want a solution fast and don’t need to be “warmed up” through a traditional funnel. If they can’t get the solution fast through your funnel, they will move on to someone else who offers the solution right away. I call this the upside down funnel. 2. The version of our ideal client that hasn’t struggled quite enough yet. They have the problem, and they want it solved. But they are still searching for the solution and are not quite ready to invest. This person will need smaller steps. Perhaps they will first come across your free lead magnet. And then purchase a smaller item. And maybe they will follow you on social media or join your free group. After they have been “warmed up,” they can be introduced to the upside down funnel. This is more of the traditional marketing funnel. These are the only two types of funnels that I actually put money behind these days. And I’ve found that they work very well.

Conclusion I’m an entrepreneur mom just like you. I know that life gets in the way more often than we care to admit. Our businesses are super important to us and so is the income that they provide. However, we all know that our most important job is being mom. Our businesses tend to hit the backburner on days we need to be there for our kids. But when you have a good funnel or two working for you, the machine of your business can still run. A funnel can allow you to step back from your business without impacting your paycheck, and that means a lot to a mom who is doing both.

3 Ways

to Conquer Your

Fears

Fears are those factors we consider as entrepreneurs that quickly cause us to change our minds concerning certain journeys we want to embark on, they may present themselves as facts, policies, and true life stories or even past experiences of ours and that is what makes being an entrepreneur all the more fun and daring. We all have our fears; else we won’t be human. But as scary as those fears may be, if we plan to get to certain heights in life we will have to learn to overcome those fears. If you do not have the guts to take risks, entrepreneurship is not thing for you. Fear is a poor tool to carve your future; you must not be enticed by the convincing voices of your fears.

30 Motivated Mompreneurs

As a businessman, you will have to spend investors’ money with the fear that you’ll never get it back, even if you plan to use your money, your entire life’s savings might end up going down the drain with no return. Most of this fears never go away and quite frankly speaking, they shouldn’t because they keep you in check and ensure that you do your best. So what you need to do is cultivate the habit of using those fears to strengthen your resolve and the way that you operate. If you don’t form that habit, you will unconsciously develop the opposite; you will be unable to rise above your fears and drive away every idea that carries a risk which is very dangerous to an entrepreneur.

www.MotivatedMompreneurs.com

To take practical steps to get rid of your fear apply a couple of methods below: NEVER HOLD REGRETS: I always say the hack to not holding regrets is not having them at all. I’m sure you’ve had regrets of failing to do or start a particular thing years ago when you see people succeed at it, well it’s time to forget about them and make sure that you don’t have more to weigh you down by going out there and making your dreams come through. Acknowledge your mistakes and manage them well.

BE PATIENT AND CONFIDENT: Everything you do is a risk whether you know it or not, so don’t do just things that you are 100% sure will work out, because even those things (if you have not noticed) might not end up being a success. So have faith and confidence in yourself and your ability and take those risks. But as you take them to make sure you are very careful about the decisions that you make and don’t be in haste to see results. Time validates the falsehood of your fears. Make sure your motto is “I can do it, ” and your default answer is “Yes,” sometimes just trust your guts and take the leap. Always keep your goals in mind and meditate upon them, this will be a constant source of motivation for you.

TALK TO SOMEONE: Try to have a mentor in whom you are confident in to guide you, that way you can get him to reassure your decisions and more confidence to the plans that you make.. you can also learn from his mistakes and avoid making a lot of your own.

Your fears will always be there with you, how you choose to respond to them is what will determine if they become a thorn in your flesh or a tool in your hands. Ride on the wings of your fears and be phenomenal.
