Assignment One - Multiview Drawing Concept: ● ● ● ●

Command: Lines, Polyline, Surface, Solids 4 Views and Graphic Display Layer Osnap, Grid Snap, Ortho, Planar, SmartTrack, Gumball Lineweights

4

Draw open/close line #Line #Polyline Create a open/close curve #Curve #InterCrv Create surface #Plane, SrfPt #PlanarSrf #EdgeSrf Create solid #Box #Cylinder #Sphere Create 2d lines from solid #Make2D

Create 5 different solid objects with #Ellipsoid, Tube, Box and combination commands.

A multiview drawing is generated by using the MAKE2D command with 4 view.

Use Layout command to set layout of printing. Adding different layers to different line weights to adjust line weight to different object projection.

Assignment Two - Planar Objects & Folding Concept: ● ●

● ● ● ●

Command: Create planar surface Moving and orientating objects via Mirror, Rotate and Orient Use UnrollSrf to create 3D model Name views Locking direction of a crv or command Osnap (End, Near, Point, Mid, Cen, Int), SmartTrack

● ● ● ● ●

6

Move/Copy object #Move #Copy Rotate #Rotate, Rotate3D Copy along a line/surface #Mirror, Mirror (3 point) Orient move/copy object #Orient, Orient3Pt Trim object #Trim Split join object along a line/surface #Split Unroll surfaces of solid #UnrollSrf

Folding Procedure

Create the poly-surface by folding a polygon and 4 times. Use #Split, Trim, Mirror, Rotate3D to generate the multi polygonal shape. 7

Assignment Four - Grafting Command:

Concept: ●

Bezier curves, Nurbs and control of curve for tangents Extract Iso curves and surface curve

● ●

● ●

● ●

Create curves #Curve Move objects(points and control points) to x-Axis, y-Axis and/or z-Axis directions #SetPt Duplicate curve or polyline of the border of open surface polysurface or hatch #DupBorder Create curves duplicate ISO curves of surface #ExtractIsocurve Create a surface from two set of crossing curves #NetworkSrf Create a series of planar curves #Contour Create a cutting plane #ClippingPlane 15

Grafting Procedure

All starts from a pair of Burbs surfaces called existing curve surfaces. Put them in seperate layer and disable it after extraction of Iso curves.

16

Create 4 borders and 6 (Clipper) planes (3 U, 3 V). They are also served as planar surface for createing new curves of the new surface. Intersect the existing curve surfaces with borders and planes.

Extract curves from the intersection and get a pair of curves on each bordar and each U/V planes. There are total 4 set on boarder and 6 sets on U/V planes.

Draw a curve on each border. The curve should be within two existing curve pair. The 4 curves should be connected at the end at the edge where two borders intersect.

Use (Clipper) planes to create new U & V curves of the new surfaces. Use #SetPt command to make sure they are planar curves. Turn on “Quad of Osnap to capture the tangentcy.

Use (Clipper) planes to create new U & V curves of the new surfaces. Use #SetPt command to make sure they are planar curves. Make sure new U and V curves intersect properly.

Use #NetworkSrf command to create the new surface with the 10 new generated curves lines set (5 U & 5 V).

Enable the layer of existing curve surfaces will create a a new sandwich type curve surfaces with 3 tangencies.

17

Axon & Sections

Use #Make2D command to generated axon of final model. Then fill the 2d surface with #Hatch command. Use different layer of line weights to present the curves of section cut.

18

Assignment Five - Mashrabiya

#ExtrudeSrf Create surface/solid along the curve

#OffsetSrf, MoveFace, MoveEdge Create offset solid/surface

#Scale, Scale1D, Scale2D Resize curve/surface/solid #MergeAllFaces, Group Merge surfaces/Create single unit

#Loft, Sweep1, Sweep2 Create a surface through selected curves 19

Mashrabiya History

Traditionally Mashrabiya is a shading architectural latticework of a building mostly found in Islamic architecture. The concept is to offer breeze, privacy, shade and protection from intense sunlight in the hot climate in the Middle East. Today Mashrabiya become an architectural element in design of facade or open space of modern architecture. 20
