Successful architecture is a structural, aesthetic and ecological design that contextualizes the surrounding environment.Sustainability, Cultural awareness, and Digial Fabrication plays crucial roles in both my professional and educational development. My cultural identity as an Taiwanese International Scholar enriches aspects in my academic and professional concentrations.

DOCUMENTATION ANALYSIS SYNTHESIS VILLA FOSCARI, ANDREA PALLADIO ARCH 401: SPRING 2014 This design project examined students’ ability to document, analyze a precedent and further synthesize the information with personal design attitude. Villa Foscari by Andrea Palladio exemplifies the paragon of symmetry and proportion of architecture that further play on the hierarchy of the space. Palladio created and manipulated a grid system that further creates a aesthetic proportion and central hierarchy.
SYNTHESIS The goal of this project is to inspire students to synthesize information of both famous architecture and personal interpretation of precedent. From the analysis of Villa Foscari, the recognition of the grid further inspire speculation for the grids to not only act as structural tool, but also fundamental design for basic geometric massing. The result of my investigation consists of “two objects” having a playful converstation after series of manipulation in grids. This new manipulation of the grid allows for two major massings. The rotation of the masings creates a interesting study of thresholds. The open interpretation of program and scale provide creative imagination of the space.

SPATIALIZED SURFACE MORPHOLOGY
ARCH401: SPRING, 2014
This project gives opportunities for investigating morphology of spatial condition within the boundary of cutting and folding paper. The spectrum of 100 models unfolds the observation and exploration of spaces. Ultimately, to connect to built environment, the speculation organizes the spectrum of study into four major categories:linear, habitable space at the left top corner; compact, habitable space at the right top; linear, uninhabitable objects at bottom left; and compact uninhabitable object at bottom right. The diagonal relation also demonstrates the transition from one to another categories.

FACADE FOR URBAN INFILL CONNECTION BETWEEN URBAN AND NATURE SUMMER INTERNSHIP 2014
The summer internship provides workshop opportunities for the student interns. The goal is to design the rear facade of a hotel building in Taipei, Taiwan that can both reduce cost for a physical renovation and serves aesthetic values for the public. The proposed facade draws the connection from the existing front facade by continueing the language of the strips. The forest in the background symbolizes the escape of nature from the constraint of urban context. This design was chosen to be completed in the future.

AN EDUCATIONAL TOOL FOR BALTIMORE COMMUNITY ARCH 402, FALL 2014
A MIXED USE URBAN INFILL FOR BALTIMORE OFFICE OF PROMOTION & THE ARTS The specificity of site challenges the students to incorporate contextual movement into and around the building design. The students are given the opportunities to overlap diverse programs into the volumetric pattern. The program requirement is followed: Office: 20 Employee work spaces 2 Director's offices Conference room Collaboration space Communal space

The proposed project, Baltimore Office of Performance Art, is located at a urban infill site in Baltimore. The site was flanked by two buildings on each side. As one walks down the street from either direction, they can get a glimpse of artistic activities through the windows. The sole intention of the angled facade is to introduce both visual and physical interaction with the process of creating arts. The visual access into the building welcomes both local artists and community to participate in the artistic experience.

The slots punctured through the facade mimic the scale of the brick that is abundant at the site context. The openings not only allows light to enlighten the interior atmosphere, but also encourage people to interact with the facade by looking out int othe world through the playful placement of the brick openings.
LIVING IN THE METROPOLITAN GREEN SPACE AND QUALITY OF LIFE ARCH 402, FALL 2014
The project program challenges students to design a apartment complext for various scales of apartment units: studio, 1 bedroom, and 2 bedroom. Setting across from the site is a green, recreational community space for the community. My design intention encompasses the exploration for maximizing interaction between residents and communities and green space. I introduces the strip of green into the plaza as continuation of the green space across from the street. DESIGN CONCEPT RESIDENTIAL COMMUNITY

GRASSHOPPER MANIPULATION ARCH470, SPRING 2014
Students are challenged to create series of objects by manipulating codes in Grasshopper. The series of manipulation and experiment creates a spectrum of forms and objects. For the two series, the exploration for wave morphology developes dynamic and active movement of wave. The study of the form allows for potential in applying grasshopper manipulation on architectual designs.
