Adbusters Media Foundation (Adbusters.org) brands itself as “an activist hub.” They were at the helm of Buy Nothing Day & Occupy Wallstreet. Their current website has a simple, punk aesthetic & a general irreverent tone. The “client” was looking for a way to boost their online traffic to further their message & mission. I determined the best solution was not a reconstruction of their current website but rather a companion site that furthered the mission of “to discover new ways to live, love, & think..” My satellite site provides a path to actualizing this mission. Adbusters.org exists as a hub for activists. My site presents those activists with activities toward their goals. Adbusters Magazine is “the journal of the mental environment.” My site is the community bulletin board showing where & when to gather. My site helps Adbusters further its mission by introducing site visitors to the concepts of Adbusters’ core ethos & by connecting people with opportunities both to recycle & to join in activism in their area.

Designing a website to introduce a new company & their unique take on a somewhat ubiquitously used product set — roasted coffee beans — brings us back to Kansas City Coffee Company. My ability to take brand identity & spread it across packaging & website design, creating a cohesive unit of visual identity, is apparent in this example. I developed this website to introduce KC Coffee Co. to Kansas City coffee drinkers & to build a niche community out of their patrons.
