Mourning Dove A Poem by Gerard Derminasyan Morning Dove It was Christmas Eve , I wanted to believe , In snow angels , So I took a walk In the moonlight
 With snowflakes
 Sparkling in the night

 In the forest
 At midnight

 I lost myself
 In the white mist

Of my breath

 And laid down
 To be covered
 By the winter's
 Blanket of ice

 Then I opened my eyes
 And saw a white dove

 Flickering her wings ,
 Dancing with the snowflakes
 Glittering in the moonlight

 What is your name
I asked with astonishing eyes ,
To bring you here at midnight
Or are you the angel of the night

 Pureness ,
She said , my name is
 Pureness

 As she stretched her wings
To embrace me with her love

And as light as a feather touch
We danced in each other's arms
 Among the snowflakes
 Of the night

 Until the dawn of light
 As she flew away
 And became
 The morning dove
