Expansion Update The expansion is well underway as this bird’s eye view shows as of Monday, October 20th.
My father and grandfather made a major shift in business strategy in 1965. They decided, after 18 years of operating as a soda fountain / drive through restaurant, to change Jerrol’s business model and become a “University Bookstore” . There were many reasons that factored into their decision—a major one being the planned opening of I-90 between Vantage and Cle Elum. When opened in 1967, I-90 routed traffic around Ellensburg, instead of right past our front door on old US Highway 10.
Jerrol’s Your Source for Productivity, Creativity & Learning
By this time this newsletter arrives, we should have a roof over our heads and be almost done with our new sidewalks, curbs, and alley paving. The existing parking lot on the east side of the building is now configured for entrance via the ally and University Way.
After almost 50 years of being primarily thought of as a “University Bookstore” by most of our clients, but probably NOT you, the time has come to make another major change for our future. As you know, Jerrol’s is far more than primarily a place for students looking to purchase textbooks. In fact, most students purchase books online or do not purchase books at all due to the extremely high price—some over $300!!!

As we look at you, our loyal client, and the reasons you choose and think of Jerrol’s, we have concluded that you think of Jerrol’s as your source for Productivity, Creativity and Learning. It boils down to being a place for people who THINK.
The goal is to be in the new building on January 1st and to have Winegars Home Made Ice Cream & Coffee open by February 1st. Read more about our changes on page 3
This concept embraces our Office Products which you use to increase your productively, Arts, Crafts, Gifts, unique & local food items that you use to stimulate your creativity, and books which you use for learning, productivity and creativity. Holiday Book Catalog By now you should have noticed your 2014 Holiday Book Catalog tucked in with your newsletter. It is full of all kinds of ideas for you and those on your shopping list. If you see something you are interested in, stop by. We have them all on display in the store to check out. If you can’t make it in, let us know and we will arrange to deliver the books to you with your next order. Rolf Is On the Road It has been interesting to be back making visits to our business clients. My first career fresh out of WSU was as an outside sales representative for a wholesale art supply company called LeisureCrafts. My territory was Eastern Washington, Idaho, Montana, Eastern Oregon and Utah. Basically the territory no other rep wanted. I traveled monthly to each of my accounts. Boy did I ever put on a lot of miles. I LOVED my job. Never the same thing twice. I remained with LeisureCrafts for over 10 years until my daughter Jordan was born. Now that I have the opportunity to step back in as your Jerrol’s Business Representative I get return to my first passion in business which is to learn about the inner workings of a businesses and see if I can find ways to help them become more efficient and hopefully more profitable. Sometimes it might be a better desk and seating arraignment, or helping you to understanding the various ordering tools available to speed up the order process or helping to ensure your office printer never leaves you high and dry without any toner by using our printer management service.

During the expansion you will find lots of stuff moving around inside the store. The goal is to get all the crafts, scrapbooking and art products in one area; office supplies, binders and spirals in another. The children's toys will be moving beside the children’s books. We are adding space for more classic and contemporary board and card games. Please ask if you need help finding anything; it’s is all still here. It just may be in a different spot!!!
