A Time to Live

Ardealia Bessie Phillips was born to Willie Lee Fortson and Joann Humphries Fortson May 17, 1928. She was the younger of two children. Her parents and older sister, Cercelia Simpson, preceded her in death. Ardealia departed this life at her home on April 22, 2017.

A Time to Love Ardealia married Andrew Lee Phillips. This union produced two sons, Andrew James (Erma) Phillips and Jeffrey Lynn Phillips; both preceded her in death. She and her stepmother, Hattie Fortson, raised two girls, Hazel (John) Lewis and Terry Bailey Remm, and later Ms. Phillips help to raise Christy Bailey who preceded her in death and Karen Bailey.

A Time to Work Ardealia retired after more than 25 years of service from Memphis State University, Chemistry Department.

A Time to Serve Until illness limited her, Ardealia faithfully served on the Mother Board of New Hope M.B. Church.

A Time to be Remembered In addition, Ardealia leaves to cherish her memories: grandchildren, Thoosdi (Christopher) Norcross of Raleigh, North Carolina and Andrew Devin (Charlene) Phillips of Memphis; great-grandchildren, Matthew Alexander Norcross and Charlize Ardealia Phillips; sisterin-law, Elizabeth Stepheny; first cousin, Jessie (Mava) Wilson; niece Debra Simpson, a host of additional nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
