Mrs. Artie Mease Lyons departed this earthly life and transitioned to be with her heavenly father on Monday, February 8, 2021, while at her home. She was born February 29, 1952, in Memphis, TN, to the late Rubie Mae Hudson and Johnnie Walls. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age at Tree of Life Baptist Church and later joined Greater Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Memphis, TN. Mrs. Lyons, who was affectionately called “Artie Mease” or “Prute,” enjoyed life and was often the life of the party. Her favorite color was purple, and she loved an aquarium full of tropical fish. Her love for music, dancing, cooking, and spending time with her family brought her joy. Her grandchildren were the apple of her eye. She was a giver and made sure no one left her presence empty-handed. Artie served the community through her work in custodial services within the Memphis City Schools system, in which she later retired. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband Paul Lyons, her brother Clifton Hudson and sister Virginia Brown. Artie leaves to cherish her loving memories, two children, Mr. Andre Hawkins and Dr. Artangela Henry (Torey). She is survived by five siblings, Marjorie Thornton (Earl), Linda Robinson, LaWare Harris, Charles Walls (Roberta) and Robert Hudson, four grandchildren, Keithon and McKenzie Hawkins and Ambrielle and Tyler Henry, a very special cousin, Roberta Mason-Simmons (Robert) and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends who will love and miss her dearly.
