Life’s Reflections Augustia “Big Gus” Thompson was born September 9,

1943, to the late James Wesley and Versie Thompson in Tunica County, Mississippi. As a child, he made a wise decision and accepted Christ. He was a member of Jehovah’s Rest Baptist Church. As a young man, he became a graduate of Rosa Fort High School Class of 1961. “Big Gus” was a man to be admired. Truck Driver For over 50 years with several companies (DTS, TCW, and eventually retiring in 2003 from Estes). He was a Lover of cars, especially the Cadillac brand. Big Gus believed in keeping a clean car. While visiting family in Clayborn homes, he saw who would become the love of his life. On September 17, 1977, Gus married his honey, Gwen Williams. He also joined Pilgrim Rest MBC under the leadership under Rev. James K. Pickens, Sr., to be with his family. Life was fulfilling with travel, porch talks, laughter, and family/friends. On Thursday, February 10, 2022, early morning, he took a closer walk with Jesus and answered a beautiful call. “Big Gus” was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. James Wesley and Mrs. Versie Thompson, and four brothers: Louis Thompson, James W. Thompson Jr,. Edward Lee Thompson, and Lawrence Thompson. He leaves to mourn but mostly to cherish his memories his wife of 44 years Gwendolyn Williams Thompson, four daughters, Patricia Rayford (Derrick) of Peroia, IL, Marilyn Thompson, Gussie Thompson, Tammi Summers (Terrance); two sons, Augustia Thompson (Pamela), Jeremy Thompson; three sisters Marva Franklin & Gussie Winston of Chicago, IL, Florida Butler of Brookhaven, MS; and a brother Alford Ray Thompson Sr (Laverne), Mother in law Lydia Williams, 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends to share in his memory.
