Barbara accepted Christ in 1974 at Olivet Baptist Church under the pastorage of Reverend Kenneth T. Whalum Sr. after moving back to Memphis, Tennessee from Knoxville, Tennessee.

Barbara was a proud 1961 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School where she firmly believed in the saying “We lead, others follow.” While attending Booker T. Washington, she was an active member of the band where she played the clarinet. Upon graduating, she attended LeMoyne Owen College. Barbara then found her niche at BellSouth where she later retired.

Barbara was affectionately known as “Poo Poo” by many and was the life of any party or occasion. Her smile, as well as her jokes, filled the room with laughter at all times. Barbara enjoyed dancing and living life to the fullest.

Barbara married Joseph Clinton Kirk Jr. on June 10, 1973, in Memphis, Tennessee. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Theopolis and Theresa McMoore; brother, Ollie Lee McMoore; and daughter, Kimberly Yvette Kirk. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Joseph Clinton Kirk Jr.; two sons, Dennis Andre Kirk and Clinton Michael Bowles (Vernice); five grandchildren, Denisecia La’Shea Kirk, Barbara Alexis Thompson, Clinton Bowles, Ronald Bowles, and Kendra Bowles; two brothers, Theopolis McMoore Jr. (Fannie) and James McMoore; four sister-in-laws, JoAnn Jefferson, Jacqui Jones, Brenda Nickerberry, and Regina Washington; two brother-in-laws, Odell Nickerberry and Jerome Washington; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins; and many friends.
