Life’s Reflections
Beatrice Woody was born in Grand Junction, Tennessee, on April 2, 1934. She was the sixth of eight children of the late Reverend Joe Woody and Jannia Pugh Woody. Beatrice accepted Christ early and was baptized at Old Jones Chapel Baptist Church. She joined Cummings Street Missionary Baptist Church in Memphis under the leadership of the late Reverend Eugene Waller and was a faithful church member until her illness. Our dear mother transitioned to her eternal home on January 28, 2025.
Beatrice’s life was a tapesty woven with love, laughter, and cherished memories. She was a devoted mother, a loving sister, and a dear friend to many. We remember her infectious laughter that filled our home, her delicious Sunday dinners that brought us all together, and her unwavering support during our most challenging times.
Beatrice’s life was centered around three key pillars, with family being the first. She was not just a mother but a nurturing figure who always had a kind word and warm embrace for those around her. Her care and love were constant sources of comfort and inspiration, making everyone feel cherished and valued.
Her second pillar was her passions. Beatrice was a social butterfly, a genuine people person who loved to cook for and entertain her friends and fanily. Her vibrant spirit and love for entertaining always made her the life of the party, bringing joy and laughter wherevere she went.
Her third pillar was giving back. Beatrice was not just a giver but a role model to many. She was always ready to adopt new kids and mentor coworkers, many of whom were in the audience at this service. Her influence and impact on those she touched will always be remembered.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her lifelong friend Johnnie Jenkins, her sisters Robbie Huny and Bernice Jones, her brothers Willie, Joseph, and Simon Woody, her daughter Jeanette Woody Dotson, her grandsons Eric and Derrick Woody, and her great-grandson Jayden Woody.
She leaves to cherish precious memories and a legacy of love; her children, Willie Woody, Phil Woody (Sharon), Beverly Woody Polk, Edward Woody (Tezra), Steve Woody, Ronnie Woody (Cynthia), and Kenneth Jenkins, a devoted son-in-law, Donald Dotson, Sr., and adopted daughter, Pat Hall; brother, James Woody, sister-in-law, Viola Woody, and 22 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Her impact on our lives and the community will never be forgotten.
