2 Timothy 4: 7-8

I have fought a good fight; I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the Righteous judge shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

Little did we know that morning God was going to call your name In life, we love you dearly In death, we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you, You did not go alone For part of us went with you, The day God called you home. You left us peaceful memories, Your love is still our guide, And though we cannot see you, You are always at our side. Our family chain is broken And nothing seems the same But as God calls us one by one, The chain will link again. Love, Your Children

Betty Jean Blackman

was born February 24, 1933, to the late Tommie Walker and Forestine Humphrey in Memphis, TN. She became a new creature in Christ as she accepted Him as Lord and Savior early in her life. She lived a purpose driven life of loving her family. She worked until her purpose was fulfilled. Betty finished her assignment and transitioned from this life, on Monday, March 27, 2017, at Saint Francis Hospital, when God decided to call one of His Angels home. She stayed as long as she could, but she heard the voice of her Father God and humbly answered the call. Betty is now joined with the Heavenly Host and her other loved ones who preceded her in transition; her parents; her three brothers, Tommie Jr., William and John Walker; one sister, Katie L. Williams, one son, Shane Blackman, and on great-grandchild, Damarcus Latezo Romell Handy. Betty leaves to cherish her life, seven children: sons; Floyd (Annie) Walker, and Eugene Kent Walker, and five daughters; Geneva Blackman, Jilda Blackman, Polly Jean Ross of Canton, MS., Selene Blackman and Winnie B Taylor; one daughter-n-law, Katrina Blackman; one sister, Margaret Moore; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Grandmother

We had a wonderful grandmother, One who never really grew old; Her smile was made of sunshine, And her heart was solid gold; Her eyes were as bright as shining stars, And in her cheeks fair roses, you see. We had a wonderful grandmother, And that’s the way it will always be. But take heed, Because she’s still keeping an eye on all of us, So, represent her well always, we must.
