Life’s Reflections

Bobbie Jean Johnson was born April 20, 1946, to the late Ernest Edward Williams and Arresia Dabney Williams in Memphis, Tennessee.

Bobbie grew up in the church where she accepted Christ as her Lord and Saviour under the leadership of the late Reverend Lindsay. She was a Sunday School member and faithful member of the Choir. Bobbie loved to sing songs of praise and was not afraid to praise God. Furthermore, she loved to listen to WLOK radio station and watch the Bold and Beautiful.

Bobbie was a loving mother and wife. She married her high school sweetheart, George Vernell Johnson, who preceded her in death. She was a domestic worker who showed unconditional love and affection to everyone. Bobbie was the matriarch of the family and the “babysitter” for everybody’s children. She raised her children and helped raise her siblings, their children, and friends who entrusted their children in her care. She raised everyone to be respectful to others and to trust in the Lord.

On September 4, 2022, the Lord knew Bobbie was tired and called her home to eternal rest. Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Williams and Arresia Williams, her husband, George Johnson, one sister Wanda Thompson, two brothers Ernest Williams, Jr., and Marvin Williams, and a nephew Christopher Williams.

Bobbie leaves to cherish her memory and legacy of her children; Stephanie Johnson, Vikki Edwards (Kenneth), and her son Kevin Johnson (Donna).

Stepmother, Lydia Williams, six sisters, Ernestine Robertson, Lillian Eason, Gwendolyn Thompson, Phillistine Taylor (Mark), Yvonne Midgett (Larry), and Angela Davis (Lysander), one brother Michael Williams of Dallas, Texas, seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends to share in her memory.

A light from our lives has gone A lovely voice is still.

A place is vacant within our hearts Which never will be filled.

But we don’t think of you as gone away Your heavenly journey has just begun.

Life holds so many facets And Earth is only one.

We think of you as resting From the sorrows and the fears, In a place of peace and comfort Where there’s no more pain nor tears.

So rest in peace our dear sister And thanks for all you’ve done.

We pray that God has awarded you The crown you’ve truly won.

We will never forget you And we know we’ve been truly blessed To have you as our sister Because you were the very best.

The memories we’ve shared will live forever In ours hearts that you have touched For nothing loved is ever lost And we LOVED you so very much.
