Life’s Reflections

Charles Sidney Gamble, a charismatic, caring, and loving man, was born on September 2, 1946, in Arkabutla, Mississippi, to the late Boss Julius (BJ) Gamble & Sirlena Hill.

He accepted Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized (Mt. Joyner MB Church/ Rev. S.H. Champion) at 12. He graduated from Geeter High School in Memphis, TN.

Charles’s dedication to his country was unwavering, serving as a proud member of the United States Army until February 1968.

His commitment to service extended beyond the military, as he later retired from Hines VA Medical Center in Hines, IL.

Charles found his soulmate in Ardrean Williams, and they were united in holy matrimony on April 10, 1999.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and cousin.

Charles was outspoken, generous, and kind, always watching over his family.

He believed in enjoying life to the fullest! He was a member of the FSU Motorcycle Club and a 33rd-degree Mason. In addition to his long-standing affiliation with The King David United Supreme Counsel, he was a past member of Arabia Temple No.1, Ancient Order of Nobles of the Mystic Shrine, Prentiss College #105 of Chicago, Hiram Lodge #14, and Elect Lodge #10.

Charles was preceded in death by his brother, Elmo Gamble, and his son, Fredrick Booker.

Charles leaves to cherish his memory: a loving wife, Ardrean; children: Corey Moore, Sr., Mikkita Moore, Jermayne Perkins, Shamus Williams (Aneesah), Broderick Coats (Stacey), William T. Gaston; sisters, Annie Hill Irby, Arlene Gamble, Jessie Dewhart, Lenetta Gamble, Rosemary Jackson, Virginia Simmons (John); brothers, George Hill (Erika), Jackie Gamble (Ann), Leon Gamble (Letreona), Micheal Hill; a special cousin, Willie James Mack and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

Tribute From Your Children

We Miss You DAD

We thought of you with love today. But that is nothing new. We thought about you yesterday’ And days before that, too

We think of you in silence. We often speak your name. All we have are memories. and your picture in a frame.

Your memory is our keepsake With which We’ll never part. God has you in His keeping, We love you in our heart.

Love, Your Children

To Our Brother Charles

The agony of knowing you’re gone is unbearable. Our last moments with you were joyous dancing on the floor, but now you’re gone. From the moment we all became your siblings, you have been bossy, always there for us and you never let us down. You were the backbone of the family and always made a way to show up. It’s going to hurt for a while, but there will be moments of laughter that you have created with us. From calling us asking “Where Them Ugly People” to ending the same sentence with “I Love Ya’ll”. There was never a dull moment when you were around. You’ve opened your doors, your heart and your pockets for us. Sometimes, without us asking, but that was just who you were. You have always been a fighter, and we just knew that you were going to pull through, But God had better plans and a better place for you. He didn’t want you to suffer, neither did we. We had selfish moments, because we wanted to have more moments with you for just a little while longer. We know that you’re up there with our mother watching us. There’s another emptiness in our hearts as you gained your wings and God gained another angel. Our God will mend all broken hearts. He never makes a mistake. He will wipe every tear from our eyes and we believe His word. We as siblings will always remember the many phone calls, visits and the life we lived under the same roof. All we have now are your memories, photos, videos and empty suits. We will keep you closest to our hearts and carry you wherever we may go. We love you Charles Sidney with all of our hearts. Rest well our dearest brother, rest!

Love, Your Siblings

(Lenetta, Virginia, Jessie, Annie Lee, George & Michael)

A limb has fallen from the family tree.

I keep hearing a voice that says grieve not for me. Remember the best times, the laughter, the song

The good life he lived while he was strong. Continue his heritage he’s counting on you, Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine through. His mind is at ease, his soul is at rest

Continue traditions, no matter how small, Go on with your lives, don’t worry about falls. Remember all, how he was truly blessed.

He’ll miss us all dearly, so keep up your chin, Until the day comes, when we are together again. Love, Willie James

You’re Not Truly Gone, Grandpa

Grandpa slipped away, Quietly one day. He simply went to sleep. No more to wake or weep.

Now we gather here And quietly shed a tear, As we lay him in the ground, No solace to be found.

But Grandpa’s not truly gone, Because his memory lives on, In all of us who loved him, Never to be forgotten.
