Life’s Reflections
Clarence Scruggs was born July 15, 1943, in Holly Springs, Mississippi, to the late Robert Lee Scruggs, Sr. and Ophelia Totton Scruggs. Clarence was a wonderful father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, cousin, uncle, and friend to many people. Most importantly, he confessed life at an early age in Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savoir, in Holly Springs, Mississippi.
Clarence’s commitment was evident in his academic and professional life. He graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1962, where he also excelled in football. His dedication continued as he worked at Cleo Wrap for 48 years until his well-deserved retirement. In his leisure time, Clarence enjoyed connecting with his loved ones over the phone and following his favorite sports teams, the Cowboys, LA Dodgers, and Lakers.
On Tuesday, September 3, 2024, God descended an Angel from Heaven to escort Clarence home to join his parents, Robert Lee Scruggs, Sr. and Ophelia Totton Scruggs, lifetime partner, Nina B. Allen, son, Vory Scruggs, daughter, Bonnie Scruggs-Dixon, grandson, Eric Scruggs, sister, Davie Lee “Dee” Scruggs Goods, brothers, Quentin Totten, Robert “RL” Scruggs, Jr., Galvester “Vess” Scruggs, and James Scruggs,
Clarence’s life will never be forgotten, and his family will always cherish his memories. He leaves three sons, Carlos (Patricia) Allen, Rico Scruggs, Gregory Toney Scruggs, three daughters, Laquetta (Wilson) Swindle, Sandra Scruggs-Smith of Detroit, MI, and Sofea Watkins of Santa Charita, CA, 14 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren, one sister in law, Zelma Scruggs and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins: special friends, Othel Totten, Bewla May Totten-Malone, and Inez Johnson. We look forward to that awesome day when we see you again in the presence of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
