Life’s Reflections D

e’Von Katrell Holmes was born December 11, 2002, to Denise and Anthony Nelson. Many family and friends valued him. He was a dedicated son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend. De’Von was God-fearing, with a giving heart and a loving and kind spirit. He will be remembered most for his love of sports and his ability to make people laugh. De’Von took pride in reading the Bible and listening to gospel music. He kept God with him on the field in every sport he played. He was dedicated to winning every game and being a great team player.

De’Von graduated from Southwind High School in 2021. While there, he was on the track and football team and played baseball and AAU basketball. This led to several scholarship offers to different universities. After graduation, he attended Tennessee State University on a full academic scholarship. De’Von was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Deborah Ann Cox and Anna Lou Nelson, and grandfathers, Jimmy Holmes and Lawrence Nelson. De’Von Katrell Holmes leaves to cherish his beloved parents, Denise & Anthony Nelson, his loving sister, DeAnna Lou Nelson, and a host of family & friends that he held near and dear to his heart. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

Psalms 23

The time we spent together meant the world to me, I have many treasured memories as we grew up together, happily I’m so grateful for the years we had and the closeness that we shared Your thoughtfulness and loyalty and the way you always cared You were a wonderful Brother, I miss you no end You were more than just my family... You were a kind and supportive friend

The Broken Chain

We little knew that morning that God was going to call your name. In life, we loved you dearly In death, we do the same It broke our hearts to lose you; you did not go alone; for part of us went with you the day God called you home. You left us peaceful memories your love is still our guide; and though we cannot see you, you are always at our side. Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same but as God calls us one by one the chain will link again. Family
