Earl Gales, a beloved Father, Son, Grandfather, and Brother, gracefully passed into his eternal resting place on March 13, 2024. He was a shining light in the lives of those who knew him and will be deeply missed.
Born on April 27, 1942, in Senatobia, MS, Earl was the cherished son of Robert and Mae Gales. Throughout his life, Earl exemplified the values of love, compassion, and dedication to family. He was a pillar of strength and a source of unwavering support for his loved ones.
Earl’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of his daughter Katie Gales, his beloved grandchild Jonathan Gales, and his siblings: Robert, Jr. (Lois) Gailes, Jeff (Verneda) Gailes, Lawrence Gales, Jimmie (Jerol) Gales, and Frances Turner. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: Lucy Mae Hardin, Rosa Lloyd, Willie Richardson, Dorice Anderson, and Cleve Gales. Earl’s extended family, including his nieces, nephews, and cousins, will forever treasure the moments they shared with him.
In 1968, Earl matched in the “I Am A Man Match” during the sanitation strike. After a dedicated career, Earl retired from the City of Memphis as a Crew Chief with the Memphis Sanitation Division. His commitment to his work and the community he served was commendable. Earl’s dedication and strong work ethic left an indelible mark on those he served alongside, and his legacy will continue to inspire future generations. He also was a tree climber on the side.
Earl’s gentle spirit, kind heart, and unwavering love will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He touched the lives of many, offering comfort, guidance, and a listening ear to those in need. Earl’s legacy of love and compassion will continue to shine brightly in the lives of those he leaves behind.
As we bid farewell to Earl, we find solace in knowing that he is now at peace, reunited with his loved ones in the eternal embrace of heaven. May his soul find eternal rest, and may his memory be a source of comfort and strength to all who mourn his loss.
