was born to Juanita Valentine Grose and Joe Lee Grose on February 20, 1942, in Love, Mississippi.

Earnest graduated from East Technical High School in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1959. He joined the the U.S. Navy upon graduation from High school. He retired from the U.S. Navy in 1979. He was a faithful member of Riverside Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a Deacon Emeritus under the leadership of Dr. George L. Parks, Jr. He was married to Mary Elizabeth Kinkle for 45 years. From this union, a son Jason Gerome Grose was born. Earnest was an avid reader and listener of music.

Earnest leaves a loving wife, Mary Elizabeth; one son Jason (Laura) of Tampa, FL; a stepdaughter Jana Kinkle (Memphis); two sisters-in-law, Norma Barrett, and Gwendolyn Woods of Memphis; three grandchildren, Thomas Baker, Isa Baker, and Xaiver Jason Grose of Tampa, Florida and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
