Such a light to our lives: Such a beautiful Soul We celebrate the home going of our loved one, Emerson Curtis Clark, whose life was well lived. Born to the late Emrick B. Sr. and Ernestine B. Clark on March 10, 1954. He transitioned suddenly to his heavenly home on February 25, 2017. He was sixth of seven children. He accepted Christ at an early age at Mount Moriah Baptist Church (Orange Mound) and was baptized by the late Reverend R. W. Norsworthy. Emerson was raised in the Orange Mound Community and graduated from Melrose High School in 1972 and 1980 from Memphis State University, which is now the University of Memphis, with an Electrical Engineer Degree. In June of 1981, Emerson began his career at the Boeing Company in Seattle, Washington. While at Boeing, he was a recipient of numerous awards and recognition for his dedication and outstanding service. After retiring from Boeing and relocating back home, Emerson became involved in many of the ministries at Mt. Moriah; Sunday school, teacher, men’s ministry, prayer warriors and weekly Bible study, only to name a few. Emerson’s passion while in Seattle and in Memphis was to introduce the youth to the field of engineering which inspired him to become the founder of ECAP (Engineering Career Awareness Program). Workshops were held in both Seattle and Memphis. He was also the instructor of ECAP at Are´te Christian School. Emerson will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Siblings: Ellen Perkins (late Wordie), Celia Matthews (Larry, Sr.), Pastor Kathon Ann Kelly (late Elder Joe), Corliss Kirkwood (Robert, Sr.), Emrick Clark, Jr. (Erma), Paul D. Tribute

My wife, Margie, and I are so very sorry to hear of the passing of our friend, Emerson Clark. His sister, Ellen, called us Monday. We had spent a great weekend with him and Ellen last October as we passed through after working on the estate of my mother. We toured Memphis, saw all his childhood memories, met the rest of the family, and were most warmly welcomed at their church, Mt Moriah Baptist Church, and learned a lot of the history of Orange Mound.

Reflections:

Emerson was an Electronics Engineer for the Boeing Company, Defense, and Space Division. He worked mainly with writing specifications for electronic parts that were used in various equipment that Boeing either built or procured. While at Boeing he supported the Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) program, the Inertial Upper Stage (IUS) Program and The Future Combat Program (FCS). One initial assignment was to be on a team which rewrote and consolidated the electronic parts specifications from the many different companies which, over the years, became The Boeing Company, to streamline and standardize the procurement of those parts. While on the last program, from which he retired, he was a lead engineer in charge of assembling and coordinating the Parts Procurement and Control Plan, which involved the writing of Electronic Parts specifications, and other documentation that controlled the qualification, procurement, testing and use of electronic parts that were to be used in equipment produced my many different companies all over the country.
