reeman Rhyne, Jr. was born March 24, 1950, to Freeman Rhyne, Sr., and Yvonne Rhyne

in Rossville, TN. As the firstborn maternal grandchild, he was doted on by his grandparents, aunts, and uncles. He departed this life on December 2, 2021, after fighting a good fight. Freeman enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in October 1968. He was ranked as Private (E-1) and received the National Defense Service Medal. After serving a 2-year tour of duty in Vietnam, he was honorably discharged in September of 1970. After returning home, he re-enrolled in school to complete his education at Melrose High School. Being one of the oldest students there, he was often referred to as a “man among boys.” He was witty, book smart, street smart, and known throughout the family as “The King Checker,” always ready for what is known today as a “clap back”!! Freeman was a sharp dresser, so much so that his younger brothers wouldn’t wear a new purchase unless it had been approved by him first. Freeman was the proud parent of one son who preceded him in death, Freeman Rhyne, III (Alis). He was the oldest of nine, having had one sister and three brothers who preceded him as well, Sharon, Dwight (Ida), Steven, and Harry. He leaves to mourn his passing and continue his legacy with one sister Dr. Carmen Dance (Sam), and three brothers Marvin (Deborah), Kelvin, and Bradley. He leaves nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He also leaves three aunts, two uncles, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, whose lives were made richer just by his presence.
