Gloria Elizabeth Gentry

was born September 14, 1953 to the late Florida and Joseph Gentry, the youngest of three children. She transitioned at her residence on July 3, 2016. Gloria accepted Christ at New Philadelphia Baptist Church at the early age of 10 years of age, under Reverend B.J. Dumas. Later her family joined Robinhood Lane M.B. Church under the leadership of Reverend Eugene Cochran. After joining Olivet Baptist Church on Southern, Gloria became one of the founding members of Olivet Fellowship under the leadership of Pastor Kenneth T. Whalum, Sr.. She became very active with the Sunday School, Power Ministry, L.O.V.E Ministry and Deacon Board. In 2012, she was voted unanimously to chairman of the Deacon Board, a position she held until her death. Gloria graduated with honors from White Station High School in 1971. She attended Memphis State University (known as University of Memphis) where she graduated in 1974 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science. After graduating from college, she began a long extensive career at the International Revenue Service where she retired in October of 2004. She received numerous recognition during her 29 years of employment. In June 1976, Gloria and Enoch Fleming Sr. welcomed a baby girl, Angela Geneva Fleming. This baby became her joy and was devoted to her. Despite a rigorous schedule of raising a daughter and working, she was actively involved in the political process by working the polls at practically every election. Gloria was thrust into the role of caretaker for every family member that preceded her; her mother, brother and then mother. She leave to mourn her passing, her daughter Angela Woods (Andrico “Draco�), her sister, Doris Gentry Hines (Atlanta); two grandchildren, Andria and Andrico Jr., (A.J.); two uncles, James (Fannie) Gentry and James Lee (Betty) Connor; two nieces, Courtney Cowan (Carlos) and Chanin Gentry, one great niece, Careyn, one aunt, Fannie Jones (Willie) of St. Louis, and a host of other relatives and friends.
