Life’s Reflections

Message from Gwen: “When death comes, we often think why did this have to be. But Blessings come in many ways that sometimes we can’t see. Everything that happens is a part of God’s eternal plan. Today what seems like a mystery in time we understand.”

OnJuly 22, 1952, Gwendolyn was born to Lorraine and Curtis Woods in Memphis, TN. Her and her older sisters grew up in Lemoyne Gardens. Gwendolyn attended Booker T. Washington High School. She accepted Christ at the age of 18 yrs. old at Riverside. She was a member of spiritual growth for many years and volunteered with Fish & Loaves. She also volunteered at the West Cancer Clinic while battling with cancer for years. Gwen worked 33 years at Cummins Recon and made many friends. Gwendolyn was active in talent shows, fashion shows for work and family reunions. Prior to the birth of her last child, she was very active in the co-ed softball team for Cummins. She enjoyed reading Christian books, shopping, drawing/painting and spending time with family. She had a strong since of family for her children and her grandchildren these were her heartbeats. On May 26, 2023, God summon her home to her eternal rest, and she can rest from her labor. To Cherish her legacy, she leaves one son: Lee (Juliana) Wren, two daughters: Corshette Noel (Nicky) and Brittany Woods-Buford, six grandchildren: Lee Wren, Jr., Seriyah Noel,Amber Wren, Nolan Noel, Raven Woods and Kahmari Woods, two sisters; Mary (Earnest) Grose & Norma (Clayton) Barrett, one niece, Jana Kinkle, three nephews Corey Barrett, Christopher Barrett and Jason Grose; and host of great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that she loved so dearly.

When Tomorrow Starts Without Me

When tomorrow starts without me

And I’m not here to see

If the sun should rise and find your eyes

All filled with tears for me

I wish you wouldn’t cry

The Way you did today

While thinking of the many things

We did not get to say

I know how much you love me

As much as I love you

Each time that you think of me

I know you will miss me too

When tomorrow starts without me

Please try to understand

That an angel came and called my name

And took me by the hand

The angel said my place was ready

In heaven far above

And That I would have to leave behind

All those I Dearly Love...

If Roses Grow in Heaven

If roses grow in heaven, Lord please pick a bunch for me, Place them in my Mother’s arms and tell her they’re from me. Tell her I love her and miss her, and when she turns to smile, place a kiss upon her cheek and hold her for awhile. Because remembering her is easy, I do it every day, but there’s an ache within my heart that will never go away.

Nana’s Gone to Heaven

One quiet day the angels came and took Nana far away But in the stillness of the night I could almost hear her say Dear grandchild – I will miss you, you mean so much to me But Jesus called me to his side, in Heaven I will be A place of God’s great beauty, no tears of earthly cares

Only peace and joy forever and love beyond compare

So remember all the good times, don’t think about the sad Treasure all the special moments through the years we’ve always had

And if you trust in Jesus, I can promise this and more

You will get a hug from Nana someday on Heaven’s golden shore

Perhaps you sent a lovely card, or sat quietly in a chair. Perhaps you sent those beautiful flowers, that we saw sitting there. Perhaps you spoke the kindest words, as any friend could say. Perhaps you were not there at all, just thought of us that day. Whatever you did to console our hearts the family of Gwendolyn Ann Woods would like to thank you for your support and your prayers during this time of our lives. May the Lord’s joy continue to shine on you for your deeds and acts of love expressed towards us.
