Beyound The Sunset
As I walk alone I’ll live in memory’s garden, dear, With happy days we’ve known. In Spring I’ll wait for roses red, When fades the lilac blue, In early Fall when brown leaves call I’ll catch a glimpse of you.
Should you go first and I remain, For battles to be fought, Each thing you’ve touched along the way Will be a hallowed spot. I’ll hear your voice, I’ll see your smile, Though blindly I may grope, The memory of your helping hand Will buoy me on with hope. Should you go first and I remain, To finish with the scroll, No length ‘ning shadows shall creep in To make this life seem droll. We’ve known so much of happiness, We’ve had our cup of joy, And memory is one gift of God That death cannot destroy. Should you go first and I remain, One thing I’d have you do: Walk slowly down that long, lone path, For soon I’ll follow you. I’ll want to know each step you take That I may walk the same, For some day down that lonely road You’ll hear me call your name.

He is preceded in death by his son, Harvey Ingram, Jr.; his daughter, Renee Douglas; four sisters, Beatrice Denton, Mattie Lou Carroll, Junie V Hewlett, Agnes Collins; five brothers; Hardy C. Ingram, Sr., Tom Frank Ingram, Jr., Theo Ingram, Sr., Tarzan Ingram and Jimmy Lee Ingram. Early in life, he accepted Christ as his personal Savior at Hickory Hill Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of A. Y. Crutcher. His daily proclamation throughout life was that all his help came from the Lord and would say daily, “Lord I thank you for another day.” Harvey, fondly known as” Pops” and “Fat Daddy,” retired from Pepsi Cola Bottling Company where he served as a master mechanic. He also worked a few years after retirement at LeMoyne-Owen College. His greatest passion was spending quality time with his family and always cherished every second. It was evident and expressed by him hiding everyone’s keys when it was time to depart. Hours after looking for your keys suddenly they would appear, and he would look at you and smile. He enjoyed fishing and repairing anything that was broken. Never was anything broken according to him, “I can fix it,” he would proclaim with a smile, and he did. Impressed with his God given talent, he would bass in God’s glory after showing the item and smile. He also enjoyed relaxing outside and spending countless hours grooming and maintaining the house and lawn. Home was his haven and his favorite place. Even thou his health was declining, he was encouraged to go on the annual family trip to Destin, Florida for Thanksgiving. He stated, after a few days, “I’m so happy I came, this is like Paradise.” Leaving behind to cherish his memories; his loyal and loving wife for sixty years, Amelia Brown Ingram; two sons, Stevie (Teresa) Ingram and Timothy Ingram; three daughters, Linda (Herbert) White, Teresa (Larry) Crump, Sr., Yolanda (Derrick) Williams; his sister, Jeanette Johnson; his daughter-in-law, Mary Ingram; seven sisters-in-law, Yvonne (Cleanon)Jones, Margaret Sanders, Laverne Dunning, Helen Brown, Liza Ingram, Troy Ingram; three brothers-inlaws, Walter (Lillie) Brown, Sr., Jim (Louise) Brown, Cecil (Stephanie) Brown; a caring cousin, Sunday Faye Taylor; two loving, caring and dedicated individuals, Gloria Blankinship and Garry Harris; a play son, Eddie Archer; two play daughters, Pecola Burns and Stephanie Morgan; 18 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Thinking of our daddy brings warmth in our hearts and smiles in our day. Thank you ”Pops” for being a loving father and a friend our whole lives through.
