Life’s Reflections
Janet
Lanice Qualls was born on April 16, 1954, to Betty and Eddie Lee Parhamn. She was born and raised in the Bunker Hill community, where she attended church and school. She professed a hope in Christ as a member of Cane Creek M.B. Church and was a proud graduate of Hamilton High School, class of 1972. She married young and became a mother to three beautiful daughters: Tonnette, Tiffany, and Melba. In 1997, she wed Walter Dean.
Janet worked as a teacher at Word of Faith Christian Academy until she fell ill, although she continued to care for many of her grandchildren and cousins as toddlers. She loved sewing, baking, drawing, all arts and crafts, and even football as a Tennessee Titan fan.
In recent years, she became a member of New Gilfield M.B. Church under the leadership of Pastor Samuel L. Ford, Jr.
Janet is preceded in death by her parents, Betty and Eddie Lee Parhamn, husband Walter Dean, and two siblings, Michael Qualls and Lisa Smith. She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Tonnette Millbrook (Neal), Tiffany Tate, and Melba Tate; two stepchildren, Antonio Jones and Auqiseia Freeman; three siblings, Sharon Bankston, Stephanie Parhamn Hudson and Kevin Parhamn (Latonya), Sister-in-law, Paulette Walker (Nathan), Three Aunts Eva Qualls Scott, Laura Qualls Smith, Annie Ruth Qualls and one Uncle Kenneth Qualls; 14 grandchildren, 15 greatgrandchildren and a host of cousins and friends.
“My greatest accomplishment is life is being a mother to three girls that grew to become three lovely strong women.”
“My grandchild and great-grandchildren are my greatest inspiration.”
“One thing I’ve learned in Life and wish to pass on to my Family, don’t allow a family member to ever be alone; the loneliness eats away at a person’s heart.
