Life’s Reflections We celebrate the extraordinary life of Mrs. Jimmie Mae Taylor Woods, born on November 15, 1938, to her late parents, Mr. Jimmy Saulsberry and Louise Pleasant Taylor. Her journey was marked by resilience, love, and a deep devotion to her family and community. Mrs. Woods graduated with great pride from Melrose High School, Class of 1956, where she established lasting connections and remained a steadfast member of the Alumni Association. Her commitment to her alma mater was a testament to her unwavering loyalty and dedication. In Desoto County, Mississippi, on March 18, 1957, Mrs. Woods and her late husband, Mr. Willie E. Woods, Jr., embarked on a beautiful journey together. Though their time together was cut short by the tragic passing of Mr. Woods on June 5, 1992, their love story continues to inspire and remind us of the enduring power of love. Mrs. Jimmie Mae Woods dedicated her professional years to the Radisson Hotel, where she served with grace and diligence in the Housekeeping department. Her retirement in 1995 marked the end of a chapter filled with hard work and exemplary service. A cherished member of the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, nestled in the heart of Orange Mound. Mrs. Woods found solace and community within its walls. She actively participated in the Choir, Sunday School, Missionary work, and served as Treasurer. Her unwavering faith and commitment to her church family were a source of inspiration and comfort to all who knew her. Mrs. Jimmie Mae Woods leaves behind cherished memories, forever etched in the hearts of her daughter, Cynthia Dawn Stevenson (Robert); her brother, Moten Taylor; her first cousins, Danny Pleasant, Ronald Pleasant, John L. Sullivan, Michael Pleasant, Valerie Pleasant; her nieces, Teresa Bailey, Alison, and Angela; her cousin-in-law, Abraham Johnson; her grandchildren, Sabrina Hicks, Shereka Woods, Robert Stevenson, Jr., Matthew Stevenson, Joseph Stevenson, and Jeremiah Stevenson; ten greatgrandchildren; and four great-great-great-grandchildren. Her passing leaves a void that will also be deeply felt by her loving church family, friends, and relatives.
