Life’s Reflections

JOHN EDWARD HAMMOND, affectionately

known as “Mannie”, was born November 16, 1971, in Memphis, Tennessee – the oldest son to Jodie B. Toles Hammond and Johnny Hammond, Sr. On Wednesday, March 23, 2022, Mannie was called home to be with the Lord. Mannie confessed a belief in Christ at an early age at the Greater New Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor ‘Gospel Joe” B. Williams. As a member, he was active with the GNS Seraphim Chorus and the Orange Mound Community Choir, where he shared his talent as a lead singer and drummer. He was an avid participant in various activities with the Youth & Young Adult Ministry. He attended White Station High School; then later graduated from Melrose High School. He studied and mastered his barbering training, as well as auto mechanic skills which enabled him to use his acquired skills to help anyone in need of car repairs and allowed him to operate his own auto repair shop. He later achieved a long-time dream when he proudly became an employee of AutoZone, Inc. Mannie leaves to celebrate his life: his mother, Jodie B. Toles Hammond; his father, Johnny Hammond, Sr. (Betty); two sons: Marlondes Graham, Sr., and Jaden Hardy; three daughters: Jasmine Davis, Jakylah Hardy, and Jamylah Hardy; one grandson, Marlondes Graham, Jr.; one sister, Jonnetta Hammond; one brother, Johnny Hammond, Jr. (Lorella); his aunts and uncles; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
