Dearest Granddaddy, As I sit trying to compose a letter that some how I know you will receive, many things come to mind. The dearest thoughts are of your unconditional love for your family.

Never too busy to yield your time for others.

Never too busy to listen to what I have to say.

Never ashamed to lift up the words Lord have Mercy.

As I compose this letter, I feel the presence as I did the hour you were be beckoned home. I know your love not only as granddaddy, but also as daddy. The Lord knows best and that is why he called you home. My greatest consolation is in knowing that the Lord willed it so. I know that you are at peace.

No more pain.

No more sorrow.

No more worrying over anything and anybody.

I love you so much. I hold you in my fondest memories. So family, let us pray because God’s will has been done, and entrust that he will provide our every need.

Your only granddaughter, Shanesia Ward P.S. Granddaddy you have earned your crown. Amen

It broke our hearts to lose you; you did not go alone. For a part of us went with you, the day God called you home. You left us peaceful memories; your love is still our guide. And though we cannot see you, you are always at our side. Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same, but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again. We, the family of John L. Daddy, Although you are not physically here with me, I know you will aways be with me in spirit but especially in my heart. If anyone asks me what type of father you were, I would say uoi werre loving, caring , understandaing, patiient and a man of faith and you never complained. Not everyone was blessed to have had a father like you. I love you too

We have come together at the call of death; an event that is constantly occurring around us. Death is the end of life in each individual. The crumbling of the body into dust from whence it came.

The object of Jesus’ death was life. We grieve because we shall miss our dad, but we realize the supremacy of God’s will.

We ask the Lord for strength to sustain us during our sorrow.

Mr. John Lewis Ward, Jr. (Butch/Bushrod) was born on January 12, 1945, in Memphis, Tennessee to the late John Lewis Ward, Sr and Cansater Warren. God whispered in his ears and beckoned him home on Monday, December 16, 2019.

He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Hopewell Baptist Church.

He was a member of the choir and was a faithful man of God all of his life.

Bushrod loved The Firestation C.B. Club, fishing, racing cars, dancing, cooking, and family. His favorite football team was the Dallas Cowboys.

His heart was filled with gold and he had a way of bringing out the best in a person with his smile and humorous personality.

He united in Holy matrimony to his childhood sweetheart, Emily R. Jones Ward. Realizing that there is a time and a season for everything, his three daughters: LaTrina, Adrianne and Sparkle Ward; a Godson, Cedric Tarton; one sister, Juanita Cavicante of Los Angeles, CA; five grandchildren: Marvis, Gregory, Tavian, Jamal and Shanesia; three greatgrandchildren, one aunt Olivia Simmons, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends Eddie & Diane Ewell, Mack Jones, Phillip Mayes and the Firestation C.B. Club of Memphis members.
