Reflections Reflections of Life

Mr. Joseph Willie Jones, III, affectionately known as “Butch,” was born May 7, 1961, to his late parents, Mr. Joseph Willie Jones, II, and Mable Inez Glenn Jones, in Denver, Colorado.

Joseph accepted Christ at an early age and was a Restoration Revival Temple Church member.

Butch was a class of 1978 graduate of the Broome High School in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Shortly after high school, Joseph enlisted into the United States Marines Corp in For Jackson, South Carolina, where he was a Private and received the Rifle Marksman Badge.

At Memphis State University, he pledged Kappa and received his associate degree.

On July 16, 1995, in Memphis, Tennessee, Butch married the love of his life, Mrs. Aretha McKenzie Jones.

His hobbies included fishing, riding motorcycles, and spending time with family and friends.

On Thursday, February 1, 2024, his earthly duties were ceased, and he was called to his eternal home.

He will be genuinely missed by many.

His loving memories will be cherished by his wife, Aretha McKenzie Jones, and his children, Jay P. Jones, Taurus Wright, and Nicole Woods. He has one sister, Lazfonda “Crickett” Traore; four grandchildren, Tashawna, Tyler, India Rose, and Zion; three great-grandchildren, Zakyranae, Zaire, Ave Rose; his mother-in-law, Mary Helen McKenzie; two brothers-in-law; Horace & Reginald McKenzie, and many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends and his pet cat, Tinker Bell.
