King Samuel Erby

“Daddy King”

You’ve always been the solid rock, the very foundation of our existence The wind beneath our wings, we must say, you always traveled the distance. The distance to make us feel loved so deep, not once did we feel neglected. We cherish your strength, we cherish your wisdom, for that you will be respected. We’ll miss the times that we spent with you and your loving, warm embrace. But God had to take you from the trials and tribulations of this temporary place. There will never be a time in life we’ll forget our Daddy/Daddy King/Pops, you see, Because you were part of making us who we are, we’ll remember that through eternity.

To Our Brother A bond that can’t be conveyed with words It’s unspoken but understood A closeness that runs deep into the soul Oh, we’d explain it if we could. We shared so many precious moments We stuck through thick and thin Now of you, there are only precious memories We will treasure until the end. So now, as you pass through this life All of the suffering is gone away, We want you to know, we love you, my brother We’ll see you again someday.

Reflections of Life T he K in g is B o r n !

On September 11, 1934, King Samuel Erby was born to the late Bessie Samuel Erby and King Willie Erby in Brooksville, Mississippi. God called him home on June 1, 2021, and he gladly answered. King joined and proudly served in the Armed Forces. He received an Honorable Discharge in 1955. Throughout the years, he worked various jobs in Memphis, TN. After devoting more than twenty years, King retired from Hardin Sysco. In 1955, King joined in Holy Matrimony with Doris Jean Tate. To this Union, they raised six children together until their divorce. However, they remained good friends and co-parents. Doris Jean preceded him in death. Later in life, King met Deola Davis. Together they had three boys. Deola preceded him in death. King accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. He was baptized, and he joined Progressive Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. James B. Collins. He was a member of the adult Sunday School Class and the Missionary Ministry. King was a very caring, loving, and kind-hearted person. He always gave without asking for or expecting anything in return. These qualities were evident when interacting with his church members, friends, and family. King’s life truly reflected the warmth of God’s Love. A kind deed is like water for a flower; it makes the heart bloom. Thanks for planting a garden in our hearts. It will be hard, but we will make it as a Family while being there for one another. We all thank you for the phone calls, home visits, cards, and warm words of encouragement. Our thank you seems so small compared to all you have done, but it comes from our hearts. Special thank you to Reign and Robert Buckner for your inspirational “Get Well” card. May God continue to Bless you in His Divine Way! ~The Family
