Life’s Reflections
n October 12, 1954, Lawrence Andre Barnes was born the tenth child to the late Samuel and Sarah Barnes. He was baptized at an early age in Utica, Ms. He was better known to family and friends as “LA”.
After his family moved to Memphis, he graduated from Melrose High School. He then became a father to a son, Marcus Barnes, and a daughter Tasha Bradley. Later, Lawrence moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan and married Debra Ellis Barnes. They have a son, Andre Jamar Barnes-Ellis. Many years later he became tired of the cold winters in Michigan, so he decided to move back to Memphis.
He really enjoyed spending quality time with his sisters and brothers, as well as his entire family and friends. In addition to his parents, LA was preceded in death by siblings; Samuel Barnes Jr, Dannie Lee Barnes, Everett Barnes and Donald Barnes.
To cherish his precious memories, he leaves sons Marcus Barnes (Brandy), Andre Barnes and daughter Tasha Bradley, and grandchildren Kirsten Barnes, Marquis Barnes, Miyah Barnes, Maraven Barnes, Jayson Tatum, Lapagus Shields, Deangelo Bradley, Brandon Bradley, Kayla Bradley, and Victoria Bradley, Tyane Jamar Barnes, and NeVaeh Lynn Barnes and several great grandchildren.
He is survived by seven siblings; Evelyn Outen, Beulah Luster, Joe Barnes (Ida), Willie Ruth Wilson (Dave), Thomas Barnes, Lanell Barnes (Francine), Lisa Wade; Sisters in law, Beatrice Barnes, Dorothy Barnes, Margaret Barnes and Mary Barnes; Special friend Wanda Kay Salton; Uncle Malachi Jack Barnes, Aunt Classie Barnes; nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and numerous friends left to enjoy and remember the good times with LA.
My heart is aching and tears continue to flow
