Dad, we gather, not in sorrow, but in love, To celebrate your life, now watching from above. The laughter you shared, the wisdom you gave, The kindness you showed, so strong and so brave.

You taught me to dream, to stand tall and fight, To find joy in the simple, to seek out the light.

Your voice still echoes in lessons so true, Your love stays with me in all that I do.

Though I miss you deeply, I’ll smile through the tears, Cherishing memories that span all the years. For love never fades, it grows ever bright, And I feel you beside me, my guiding light.

So I’ll carry your laughter, your strength, your grace, And honor your legacy in my own place. Dad, you may be gone from this world we see, But forever and always, you’ll live on in me.

I thought we had more days, and more time to blow

Before you receive your assignment

And before, I know you must go

I recalled your infectious laughter, as I pace to and fro

Although I wanted more time, Its clear you must go

There were good days and bad days and days you had to take it slow

Now the time has come, And I know you must go

So, I will remember your smile

As I glance at you from head to toe Weather I’m ready or not, I know you must go

It was time to meet The Father And Uncle Lo knew it for Show! “Although I would love to stay Sheritha” “I know I must go!”

One Family, One Love

Lorenza, though you’ve gone ahead, your love will never fade, In every heart you’ve touched so deep, your warmth will always stay. We are one family, bound by love, unshaken through the years, Through joy and laughter, trials too, through smiles and through tears.

Hand in hand, we walked this life, through moments big and small, Lifting, guiding, standing strong—together through it all. No distance breaks the ties we share, no time can pull apart, The love that lives within us is still, forever, in our hearts.

We cherish all the memories, the kindness that you gave, Your laughter still rings in our minds, like echoes from the waves. Though you rest beyond our sight, your spirit’s shining bright, A guiding light, a steadfast love, still holding us ever so tight.

So, as one family, we stand strong, just as we’ve always done, Carrying your love within our hearts—forever, we are one.

Life’s Reflections

Lorenza Luellen was born January 8, 1950, in Memphis, TN, to the late Nathaniel Luellen and Myrtle Luellen. He was the youngest of 5 children.

He graduated from Melrose High School Class of 1969.

Lorenza was known for occasionally using the phrase “You Thu Odis!” He had an unforgettable laugh, and he was a very fun person to be around. He was loved by everyone who crossed his path. If you asked him to do something, he would do it even if he didn’t feel like it at that time.

Lorenza was employed at the VA Hospital in Chicago, IL., for several years. Lorenza, affectionately known as “Lo,” enjoyed helping his family and friends. He attended the State Technical Institute of Memphis, earning an associate’s degree in Auto Mechanics. He worked on the cars of his family, friends, and neighbors. I guess you could say he became the neighborhood mechanic. Years later, he became interested in laying carpets. He got his training in carpentry and worked with several companies laying carpet in homes and businesses. In the early 2000s, he sparked an interest in HVAC. He decided to return to college, where he earned his HVAC certification. He began working for companies installing HVAC units.

On Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at Baptist East Hospital, God called him home to receive his highest honor.

Lorenza was preceded in death by his mother, Myrtle Luellen, his grandson, his father, Nathaniel Luellen, his oldest brother, Nathaniel Luellen Jr., and his niece, Carol McKinnon.

Lorenza leaves to cherish his memory his son Leonard A. Logan of Chicago, IL, and his daughter Destiny Walker of Cordova, TN. Two sisters, Mary E. Luellen of Olive Branch, MS, and Bernice Luellen of Cordova, TN, and a brother, Jerry Luellen Sr. (Lou) of Memphis, TN. A sister-in-law, Ester Luellen of Dallas, TX. Two aunts, Sallie Kimbrough (his mother’s twin) of Ashland, MS, and Elizabeth Coleman (his father’s sister) of Cordova, TN. A special niece, Sheritha Ayers (Quinton) of Olive Branch, MS. Five nieces, two nephews, great nieces and nephews, and a host of cousins and friends.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
