axine Brooks Cash, an accomplished Executive Secretary, was born to the late John and Jennie Brooks in Toledo, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac Cash, her sisters, Marian Brooks, and Mae Brooks Hendrix. The joy of her life was her loving family: Yvonne (Bonnie) and John C. Broussard. She called her family “Nest.” (The nest was incomplete if one “bridie” was away.) Bonnie’s faithful and devoted attention to her mother’s care over the years was exceptional and compassionate. Many evenings were shared with her grandson, John, with hearty laughter and “grandmamma talks” about life and living. Jennie Brooks brought Maxine to Collins Chapel CME Church as an infant. Maxine used her secretarial skills working with the women of the U.S. Walton’s (a charter member), gifting projects that enhanced and improved the church. An active member of the Trustee Board for many years, she implemented the idea of the Living Tree (which is on display) in the Gallery of Ministers), served on the Editorial Team of one of our hallmark Anniversary celebrations (126th). Worked on the church’s stained glass windows project and supervised the fencing project around the church. Upon Graduating from Manassas High School and Griggs Business College, Maxine’s professional career started with becoming Lt. George W. Lee’s Executive Secretary. Maxine worked at NDCC (National Defense Cadet Corps), later known as the ROTC. Upon completion of Memphis City Schools Board of Education, NDCC moved to Avery Avenue. Her leadership skills were important, serving as a founding member and President of the Queen’s Social Club. Maxine was known for her sweet personality, happy smile, business attitude, and distinct taste for quality. Memories to forever cherish are left to her loving daughter-Bonnie Broussard, adored grandson- John C. Broussard, the light of her life, Paula F. Hill (goddaughter) of Apache Junction, Arizona, Benton Brown (nephew) of Rochester, New York, Bernice Luellen and a host of cousins, neighbors, and friends. Rest In My Radiant Presence The world around you seems to spin faster and faster, till everything is a blur. Yet, there is a cushion of calm at the center of your life, where you live in union with me. Return to this soothing Center as often as you can, for this is where you are energized: filled with My Love, Joy, and Peace.

“If Roses Came In Black”
If roses came in Black... that’s exactly what you’d be... reborn every spring throughout eternity. If the sun could shine at twilight and warm the earth at midnight, it would be in very special honor of you. And if, if an eclipse could occur for mankind to see, but the moon still shines bright mysteriously. And if roses came in black... If roses came in black... If roses came in black... that’s exactly what you’d be.
