“I’m Free”

Don’t grieve for me for now I’m free, I’m following the path God laid for me I took his hand when I heard him call, I turned my back and left it all I could not stay another day, To laugh, to love, to work or play Tasks left undone must stay that way, I’ve found that peace at the close of day If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joy A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, Ah yes, these things I too will miss Be not burdened with times of sorrow, I wish for you the sunshine of tomorrow My life’s been full, I’ve savored much, Good friends, good times, my loved one’s touch If my time seemed all too brief, Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief Lift up your heart, rejoice with me, God wanted me now, He set me free.

tis Timothy Key, Sr. entered into this world on a beautiful Saturday, May 3, 1947, to Mr. Samuel Key and Ms. Lurene Lester Key in the serene town of Tillatoba, Mississippi, nestled in the heart of Yalobusha County. From an early age, Otis T. embraced his faith and found solace in the loving arms of Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Mississippi. As a young man, he embarked on a journey to Paterson, New Jersey, where he discovered new opportunities and adventures. It was during his time at the Millington Naval Air Base that fate intervened, and he crossed paths with the remarkable Ms. Marjorie Norris. Their love story unfolded, and on December 18, 1965, they exchanged vows, forever joining their lives together. Together, they traversed the globe, creating cherished memories as they embraced the nomadic lifestyle that came with military service. Eventually, they decided to return to their roots and establish their home in the vibrant city of Memphis. During their blessed union, three sons were born — Otis Jr. (Ann), Christopher Albert, and Keokie (deceased) Key. Otis Sr. had a deep passion for the great outdoors, finding joy in the pursuit of hunting and fishing wherever the opportunity presented itself. Above all, Otis treasured his family, and his memory will forever be cherished by his beloved wife, children, and siblings. He is survived by his brother, Samuel L. Jackson (Yolanda), his sister-in-law, Jacqueline Yelvington of Memphis, and his brother-in-law, Myron Stewart of St. Louis, Missouri. Additionally, he leaves behind a former daughter-inlaw, Donna Key, nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and a multitude of other relatives and friends whose lives were touched by his warmth and kindness. Otis is preced in death by his sister, Estelle Slate.

“Broken Chain” We little knew the day God was going to call your name. In life we loved you dearly. In death we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you but you didn’t go alone. For part of us went with you the day God called you home. We’re left with beautiful memories. Your love is still our guide, And though we cannot see you You are always at our side. Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same, but as God calls us one by one the chain will link again.
