Robby McCoy, Jr., went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 28, 2024. Robby was baptized at an early age at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church (Orange Mound).
Robby graduated from South Side High School with honors in 1976. He attended Lemoyne Owen College.
Robby worked at Sears for several years as a Key Punch Operator and later in the tire department. He eventually retired from Sears to work part-time at FedEx as a cargo handler until his retirement.
Robby had a great character and a big heart of gold. Everyone who knew him spoke of his genuine kindness and love for his family and friends. He loved spending time with each and every one of you.
If you knew him, you would see him sitting outside in his favorite chair. You may have caught him sitting inside his truck napping. He loved listening to his favorite R&B radio station. Let’s not forget that he had his favorite brandy to “sip on alongside his favorite chair.”
He loved it when you drove or walked over to say hi and shoot the breeze together.
His mobility issues kept him from living his best life in the past few years. However, he never stopped smiling and enjoying your company.
Robby was preceded in death by his father, Robert McCoy, Sr.
Robby leaves to mourn his beloved mother, Earlean McCoy; sister, Regina (Henry) Bullen, nephew Richard Bullen; niece, Janell Bullen; brother, Ronald J. McCoy, Sr.; nephews, Ronald J. McCoy II, Marcus J. McCoy, daughter, Denesha Wilborn, grandkids, Harmoney Hobson, Brandon Hobson, Hailey Wilborn, Aunt Dortha (Eddie) Walsh, and a host of cousins and dear friends.
Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.

Committal Rites
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the many prayers, telephone calls, visits, gifts and comforting acts of kindness. May God bless you richly for these expressions of love during our time of need.
We little knew the day that God was going to call your name. In life we loved you dearly, In death we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you But you didn’t go alone. For part of us went with you The day God called you home. You left us peaceful memories. Your love is still our guide, And though we cannot see you You are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same, but as God calls us one by one the chain will link again.
