A Wish Come True Daddy
If I could have a wish come true, A dream that’d come to pass I’d ask to spend a day with you, And pray that it would last. I’d run to you and hold you close, We’d laugh and smile again I’d listen so intently, As you told me how you’ve been. When time was up I’d hold you close Not wanting to let go You’d smile and tell me, ‘See you soon’ And somehow I would know That while it’s very hard to wait, One day the time will come, I’ll join you there forevermore, When I too am called Home My wish may go ungranted But it always will be true… I’d trade many of my tomorrows For one yesterday with you. I Love You Daddy,

Seldon Griffin, Sr.
was born August 26, 1933, in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Walter Griffin, Sr. and Nellie Mae Nutting Griffin. He was the third child born of their eleven children. Seldon transitioned this life on August 27, 2016. Seldon was called “Sel” by family and friends. He attended Hamilton High School, where he met the love of his life, Queenie Earline Turner. The high school sweethearts were married for 58 years. To their union were born five children, Sandra, Seldon Jr., Stephen (preceded in death), Selina and Cedric (Scott). Seldon faithfully took care of his wife during her illness until his health failed him due to a stroke. The family joined Parkway Gardens Presbyterian Church (currently Parkway Gardens United Presbyterian Church), where he and his wife were longtime active members. Throughout his many years of dedicated service, he served as a deacon, an elder, and Bible study teacher and led songs with the Men’s Choir. In the community, he was active in the Quinn Street, Cloverdale-Barksdale Neighborhood Association and regularly checked on the elderly neighbors. After retirement of 30 years of diligent service at Springmeier Shipping Company, he took great pride in maintaining the upkeep of the church building and grounds. He also worshiped several years at Faith Temple Holiness Ministries where he served as President of the Men’s Ministry. Seldon had a Divine calling upon his life, and he found great joy in mentoring and inspiring young men in the neighborhood and at church. Seldon was preceded in death by his lovely wife, Queenie; two brothers, Walter Jr. and Horace Griffin and one sister, Juanita Griffin Davis. Seldon leaves to cherish his memories two daughters, Sandra (Andrew) of Bedford, TX, Selina Griffin of Memphis, TN; two sons, Seldon Jr. of Memphis, TN and Cedric “Scott” (Tanya) of Woodstock, GA; two sisters, Rosemary Thompson of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA and Sylvianne (Albert) Morris of Florissant, MO; five brothers, Lawrence (Dorothy), Isaac (Patricia) and Charles (Marva) Griffin all of Memphis, TN, Richard Griffin of Chicago, IL and Anthony (Bettye) Griffin of Lewisburg, TN; a dear brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Gwendolyn Looney of Ragland, AL; a special brother-in-law, Paul Whitthorne of Memphis, TN; six grandsons, Anson, Darian, Cedric, Griffin, Seldon and Nicholas; six granddaughters, Celina, Leighann, Brittney, Sierra, Kelci and Kelli; 3 great-grandsons, Drew, Sean and Brison; two great-granddaughters, Annalise and Savannah and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
