I felt an angel near today, though one I could not see I felt an angel oh so close, sent to comfort me I felt an angel’s kiss, soft upon my cheek And oh, without a single word of caring did it speak I felt an angel’s loving touch, soft upon my heart And with that touch, I felt the pain and hurt within depart I felt an angel’s tepid tears, fall softly next to mine And knew that as those tears did dry a new day would be mine I felt an angel’s silken wings enfold me with pure love And felt a strength within me grow, a strength sent from above I felt an angel oh so close, though one I could not see I felt an angel near today, sent to comfort me.
I Felt An Angel
You had a heart of gold and a beautiful soul. You were loved by so many, young and old. If we had one more day to spend with you, We would tell you how much we love you and make all your dreams come true. You were more than our mom. You were our bestfriend too. We’re so lost without you. We don’t know what to do. We know you’re happy; you’re no longer in pain You’ll live in our heart forever mom, until we meet again!

Dear Sister, A light from our lives has gone A lovely voice is still. A place is vacant within our hearts Which never will be filled. But we don’t think of you as gone awayYour heavenly journey has just begun. Life holds so many facets And Earth is only one. We think of you as resting From the sorrows and the fears, In a place of peace and comfort Where there’s no more pain nor tears. So rest in peace our dear sister And thanks for all you’ve done. We pray that God has awarded you The crown you’ve truly won. We will never forget you And we know we’ve been truly blessed To have you as our sister Because you were the very best. The memories we’ve shared will live forever In ours hearts that you have touched For nothing loved is ever lostAnd we LOVED you so very much. Our love always, Sandra, Bubba, and Scott
Aunt Lene, Your were our wonderful, fun-loving, fashionable aunt, Who never really grew old; Your smile was made of sunshine, And your heart was solid gold. The fact that you’re no longer here Will always cause us pain, But you’re forever in our hearts, Until we meet again. Love you forever, Your Nieces and Nephews
Selina Birnetta Griffin was born on May 29th, 1962, in Memphis, TN, to the late Seldon Griffin, Sr., and Queenie Earline Turner-Griffin. She peacefully transitioned into eternal rest on Thursday, August 25th, 2022, at home, surrounded by family and friends. Selina was affectionately called “Nett,” but by her many nieces and nephews, she was called “Aunt Lene.” She graduated from Hamilton High School Class of 1981 and afterward went on to pursue a career as a Cosmetologist. She was an active member at Parkway Gardens United Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Deacon, a volunteer with Family Promise, and a faithful member of the choir. She could whistle any song. She had such beautiful legs, which resulted in her receiving a contract from a modeling agency to model her legs on a billboard in Memphis. She was a make-up artist, apartment leasing consultant, teacher’s assistant at Magnolia Elementary School, and an after-school teacher at South Parkway East Learning Center and Riverview Kansas Community Daycare. She was a motivator, mentor, and an inspiration to many. She was not only a caregiver to her parents but also to others.

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” Timothy 4:7
Selina was the Queen of fashion. She could turn a t-shirt, a pair of jeans, and combat boots into a “bling out” outfit everyone wanted to wear. There wasn’t a pair of shoes she couldn’t rock and walk right onto a New York runway fashion show. She brought joy and laughter everywhere she went. She was always the life of the party. She left us much too soon. Her beautiful and infectious smile, laughter, and giving spirit will sincerely be missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, Seldon Sr. and Queenie Griffin, a brother Stephen Moses Griffin; paternal grandparents: Walter and Nellie Griffin; and maternal grandparents: Birdie & Moses Turner. She leaves to cherish her memories of her daughter Celina Davis and son Cedric Davis, Jr.; three siblings: Sandra Griffin (Andrew) Jackson of Bedford, TX; Seldon Griffin, Jr. of Memphis, TN and Cedric Scott (Tanya) Griffin of Woodstock, GA, her near and always dear friend Cedric Davis, Sr. and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends. She also leaves behind her two fourlegged children, Harley and Spank, and her grand dog Chance, all of whom she so dearly loved.
