L Tributes To My Children oving
Remember Me Speak of me as you have always done. Remember the good times, laughter, and fun. Share the happy memories we’ve made. Do not let them wither or fade. I’ll be with you in the summer’s sun And when the winter’s chill has come. I’ll be the voice that whispers in the breeze. I’m peaceful now; put your mind at ease. I’ve rested my eyes and gone to sleep, But memories we’ve shared are yours to keep. Sometimes our final days may be a test, But remember me when I was at my best. Although things may not be the same, Don’t be afraid to use my name. Let your sorrow last for just a while. Comfort each other and try to smile. I’ve lived a life filled with joy and fun. Live on now, make me proud of what you’ll become. Love, Pop
A friendly smile, a casual touch, These are the things that mean so much. To know you are with us in our time of sorrow, Sharing our prayers, today and tomorrow. God gives us the comfort in the form of good friends. May His peace be with you, His love never ends. ~ The family of Simon M. Woody, Sr.

Life’s Reflections
imon Moses Woody, Sr., affectionately known as “Pop,” was born on August 27, 1938, in Grand Junction, Tennessee. He was the youngest child of the late Reverend Joe Woody and Jannia Pugh Woody. Simon accepted Christ at an early age at Old Jones Chapel Baptist Church. The family left Grand Junction and moved to Carver Heights while Simon was young. He graduated from Woodstock High, where he met Georgia Mae Royal. Simon and Georgia married on July 16, 1960, and moved to Memphis. After moving to Memphis, he joined Vollintine Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. W.M. Fields, Jr. While a member; he served on the Deacon Board, Male Chorus, secretary of the Adult Men’s Sunday School class, and in his early years as Santa Claus. He continued to be a faithful member and deacon under Dr. C. J. Bryant, III, until his mobility failed.
Order of Celebration
Pop, They say there is a reason, They say that time will heal, But neither time nor reason, Will change the way I feel, For no-one knows the heartache, That lies behind our smiles, No-one knows how many times, We have broken down and cried, We want to tell you something, So there won’t be any doubt, You’re so wonderful to think of, But so hard to be without.

Remembering Deacon Woody
Simon supported his family by working at Firestone for over 20 years until they closed in 1983. He continued to provide for his family by working for Cummins Diesel ReCon until his retirement in 2008. In the community, Simon served as the coach to the WDIA baseball team and the Evergreen Presbyterian Church baseball and basketball team. He led the Springdale Dodgers baseball team to the city championship. “Unc” is what he was called by the guys in the neighborhood that he coached, mentored, and filled the role of ‘surrogate father.’
