T heodore “Roosevelt” Tate was born July 8, 1955, in the Pine Hill Community of Memphis, Tennessee, to Leona Tate and Theodore Roosevelt Malone Harris. He departed this life on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at the age of 66. He professed hope in Christ at an early age at Lake Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He grew up in the Bunker Hill Community, and later met and married Janet Lea Grundy. From this union, Torian Jason Tate was born. He later met Barbara McWright and fathered Takisha Latrice McWright. Roosevelt’s legacy will continue to live through his two grandchildren, Torian Jason Tate II (TJ) and Trace Jamison Tate. He leaves to cherish his memory wife, Carolyn Mitchell Tate; one son, Torian Jason Tate; brother, Melvin L. Tate; four nieces, Toya Tate, Jena Y. Tate, Nikita C. Tate, and Louise B. Langston. He also leaves four nephews, Robert L. Tate Jr., Eric D. Tate, Brandon T. Tate, and Rodney T. Tate. Roosevelt also leaves a host of relatives and friends. Roosevelt is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, James Tate and Robert L. Tate Sr., his daughter Takisha Latrice McWright, and nephew, Ramone Tate.
