Vernell accepted Christ at an early age and later united in holy matrimony to the late Herual Miller.

Mrs. Vernell Coxen Odum Miller was loved by many, and all will miss her warm smiles, greetings, and presence.

She took great pride in her Orange Mound Community being a longtime homeowner on Dallas St. She was dearly devoted. She was an active member of the Co-Act Neighborhood Watch Association and the Orange Mound Senior Citizens. Mrs. Miller’s faith was un-tiresome. As a believer in our Lord Jesus Christ, she was also a long-time member of the Historic Mt. Pisgah C.M.E.Church, Park Avenue, where she participated on the Usher Board #2, a member of the Faithful Few and Higher Education.

On Friday, February 5, 2021, at the Baptist Reynolds Hospice Center, Mrs. Vernell Miller finished her faithful and earthly walk and joined the heavenly angels.

She was preceded in death by her children, Bertha Pittman, and Johnny James Odum.

Her loving memories will be cherished by her three grandsons, Anthony Bowles (Anita), Andre Kirk, and Michael Bowles (Vernice); a loving and caring daughter-in-law, Dorothy Odumm, her beloved Mt. Pisgah C.M.E. Church members, the Orange Mound Community, and a host of other relatives and friends.

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ His only Son Our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried. The third day He rose from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty, from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and life everlasting.
