Life’s Reflections
Vivian C. Bond was born April 27, 1936, the second of five children to the late Willie “Doc” and Annie Carney in Bells, Tennessee. She attended Carver High School in Brownsville, Tennessee, where her outgoing personality and love for people made her a respected classmate.
On December 24, 1952, Vivian was joined in holy matrimony to the love of her life, Mr. William C. Bond. Their union blessed them with six children: Patricia, Shirlean, Cecelia, Ralph, Stephanie, and Constance. They remained happily married for 69 years.
Her love for family made her a joyful homemaker, dutiful wife, and loving mother. She expressed talent and a love for others through baking. She was known for her delicious pound cakes that adorned many tables and were enjoyed by many family members and friends. She also had a passion for traveling with her closest friends and family.
Vivian obeyed the gospel and was baptized at Vance Avenue Church of Christ. She became an active member of the church. Later, she attended Norris Road Church of Christ, where she worshiped and was a member of the Unity Seekers Choir, sharing her beautiful voice with others. Vivian lived her life with impeccable character. She was active in the church and community and was known as a kind, charitable person with a heart of gold.
She was a loyal employee of General Electric and a retiree of K-Mart and Memphis City Schools, where she found joy in helping the youth of her community. She was a successful entrepreneur and top regional beauty consultant for Mary Kay Cosmetics until her decline in health.
On December 13, 2024, surrounded by her family, she passed away peacefully in her home of 55 years. Vivian was preceded in death by their loving husband, William C. Bond; her daughters, Constance and Shirlean; and sisters, Annie Bell Carney and Catherine Jeanette Yander. She leaves four devoted children to cherish her memory, Patricia Milton (late Sonnie), Cecelia Wilburn, Ralph Bond (Andrenna), and Stephanie Jones (late Derek); ten grandchildren, Marcus Goodwin (Tyrunya), Tanika Bond, Courtney Strickland (Catherine), Derek Jones, Jr., Whitney Moore, Anthony Wilburn, Jr. (Jessica), Georgie Gordon (Jessica), Lauren Bond, Kayla Wilburn, Alanna Bond; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Wilma Burnette (Freddie), brother, Willie Carney, Jr.; two goddaughters JoAnn Harris (Ervin), Rachel Keys, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, church members and friends to remember her legacy.
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, Which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing”

A Letter to Our Mother
Each day you strived to live; your body too weak to be. Your love will live forever since your heart has set you free. Now, you walk so bravely, you feel the pain no more. Angels have come to guide you and bring you to Heaven’s door. Memories we’ll hold so dearly; your smiled warned our hearts. Through our lives, you live; you touched so many parts. Hard days may be before us; it’s all part of God’s plan. Why you left so soon, we may never understand. You’ll be alone no longer, and you’d tell us “Don’t be sad.” Please believe you were no burden and say hello to Dad. Our lives have changed forever since the day you passed away. In heaven, you’ll be waiting to meet us again someday. We’ll always love you, Mom!
~ Love, Patricia, Cecelia, Ralph, and Stephanie~
You’re Forever in Our Hearts
Of all the special gifts in life no matter how great or small, to have you as our Granny was the greatest gift of all.
May the winds of love blow softly, and whisper in your ear, “We love and miss you Granny and wish that you were here.” Deep in our hearts, your life is kept to love and to cherish. We can share no more tomorrows, but yesterdays are always there.
A silent thought, a secret tear keeps your memory near, and in our hearts forever, we love you Granny dear!
Love, Your Grandchildren

“I’m Free”
Don’t grieve for me for now I’m free, I’m following the path God laid for me I took his hand when I heard him call, I turned my back and left it all I could not stay another day, To laugh, to love, to work or play Tasks left undone must stay that way, I’ve found that peace at the close of day If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joy
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, Ah yes, these things I too will miss Be not burdened with times of sorrow, I wish for you the sunshine of tomorrow
My life’s been full, I’ve savored much, Good friends, good times, my loved one’s touch If my time seemed all too brief, Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief
Lift up your heart, rejoice with me, God wanted me now, He set me free.
