Obituary
Willie Augusta Jones was born on September 30, 1940, to Charlie Jones and Martha Beard in Ashland, Mississippi. He was the oldest of seven children. At an early age, he confessed a belief in Jesus Christ, our Lord, and Savior, at New Salem Church in Mississippi.
Willie attended Melrose High School in Orange Mound, where he met the love of his life, Wilhermenia, at sixteen. They were married in 1958 and had three wonderful daughters and one son whom he was very proud to be their father. During his later years, he also had another daughter he loved.
Willie worked for the Army Corp of Engineers, retiring at the young age of 50 years old. After retirement, he managed “J.T’s Lounge” in South Memphis for many years. His favorite and most significant accomplishments started in his youth, working as a Caddy. Throughout his life, he won many tournaments bringing home various trophies and prizes.
His parents, Charlie Jones and Martha Beard; wife, Wilhermenia Jones; brother, William Beard; sisters, Debra Ward, Lois Boykins, and Rose Sandridge; son, Kenzie Jones; grandson, Zion Jones, all preceded him in death.
Willie is survived by his daughters, Linda Green, Tundra Hampton, Donna Wright, and Latasha Jones; loving sister, Martha Jones and wonderful brother, Grover Beard; grandchildren, Kenzie McCellan, Kaisa Jones, Sasha Greene, Cierra Wright, Willa Hardy and a favorite nephew, Marquette Sandridge and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.
