Willie Loyce Gunn

was born to the late Mathor Hines and Lila B. Gunn, on January 29, 1939 in Walnut, Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his brother, Harold Gunn. He accepted Christ at an early age while attending Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Walnut, Mississippi. He was a member of Olivet Baptist Church where he served as a choir member, deacon board member, and Associate Pastor. He became the Pastor of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church where he loved and served faithfully for nine years. Reverend Gunn attended Walnut Elementary School and later moved to Memphis where he excelled in football, basketball and track before graduating from Melrose High School. He went on to play football at Tennessee A&I State University on a scholarship in 1959. He worked for Illinois Central Railroad, Kroger Meat Plant, and Tillman Cove as building Manager. Willie loved life and making people laugh. He especially loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, family, church members and friends. He would always have a kind word and something to give. Some of his favorite hobbies included hunting, bush hogging, and a passion for horses. Reverend Gunn leaves to rejoice in his memory, sons: Keith (Pamela) Gunn, Kenneth (Katrina) Gunn and Jason, Sr. (Millicent) Gunn, grandchildren: Jasmine, Jerwayne, Jalen, Jason, Jr. and Mia Gunn, nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends.
