vonne CeCelia McRee, 82, passed away on August 5, 2022, at Baptist Hospital. She was the widow of United States Marine Staff Sergeant John Henry McRee, Sr., who preceded her in death on July 26, 1966. Born in Memphis, TN, she was the daughter of Matthew and Roxie Duckett, both deceased. She graduated from Melrose High School and attended Howard University. She spent many years as a private duty nurse, served as a foster parent, and worked in childcare for much of the remainder of her life. She truly dedicated her life to being a faithful caregiver and servant. She was a member of Highland Church of Christ and was actively engaged with the Women of Grace Sunday school class. She enjoyed cooking, knitting, sewing, crossword puzzles, scrabble, game shows, and western movies. She read her Bible faithfully and lived as an example of godliness. She was survived by her three daughters and son, Elizabeth McRee Mays, John McRee, Jr., Roxie Hodge, and Tina Tuggle. She was a proud grandmother to her nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. She was also preceded in death by her eight siblings: Ruby Braxton, Augustine Redeemar, Zorine Lowe, Mattie McCoy, Freddie McCoy, Shirley McRee, James Duckett, and Matthew Duckett.
