13th Parish Festival has received warm support in its establishment locally. The 2019 Inaugural Angels sponsoring the 13th Parish Festival
to date are: OAK, Jersey Arts Society, author Jack Higgins and Enriched Media Group. The Soroptomists of Jersey have sponsored the Jenny
Lecoat female scriptwriting award, details below. Two international festivals will attend with special programmes in
the festival. Off- Court Film Festival of Trouville and IndieCork Festival in Ireland, creative partner of 13th Parish. The Festival also presents a very special evening of silent film – in partnership with the States Greffe and Jersey Heritage, kindly supported by Corbett Le Quesne. Celebrating the centenary year of women’s suffrage in Jersey, the festival will screen ‘The Suffragette’ a 1913 silent film with Asta Nielsen, preceded by some fascinating footage of Jersey around the same period. 13th Parish committee member, Dr. Tony Langlois commented: “One of our chief aims to encourage local talent. While bringing international work to Jersey is important, we hold local creative development as equally vital to the festival’s success. We look forward to working collaboratively and seeking out this new talent. We are delighted that the Soroptomists of Jersey are kindly supporting The Jenny Lecoat Award. This competition is open to all Channel Island writers, with an emphasis on story telling that is centered on a female character, in a new and inventive light” Tickets have just been released and are now on sale online and at the Jersey Arts Centre.
