CBA GOLF TEAM WILL LOOK TO CONTINUE ANOTHER TOP-NOTCH CAMPAIGN By: Kevin Davis The Christian Brothers Academy golf team will look to continue another top-notch campaign during a seven-day period beginning April 21 when they will participate in the Monmouth County Tournament, Galloway National Challenge and Shore Conference Tournament.

CBA’S JERRY WALL Photo By: Fran Attardi

CBA, last year’s NJSIAA Tournament of Champions winner, will enter the Shore Conference Tournament as defending champion after posting a team total of 310 at last year’s event. Current senior Jerry Wall took individual honors for the event for the Colts, edging then-senior John Edler of Rumson-Fair Haven on the second hole of a playoff. Wall’s individual title came a year after teammate Vince Palazzolo, now a fellow senior, shot a 69 en route to an individual and team victory. This year’s tournament will tee off April 28 at Charleston Springs.

It was Edler and RFH who surprised the Colts a week earlier at Hominy Hill to capture the 2013 Monmouth County Tournament. Edler took the event’s individual title – won by Wall in 2012 – shooting a 73 while RFH’s team 317 bested CBA by three strokes. The Colts will look to avenge that upset loss on April 21. On April 22, CBA is scheduled to participate in its second Galloway National Challenge. The Colts were runners-up to Bergen Catholic for the team title in 2012, who also went on to top the event in 2013. Still, Jerry Wall had a successful individual effort in the 2012 event, topping the field with a 72. Looking beyond the 2014 season, Wall has signed a national letter of intent to play golf at Loyola (MD) while Palazzolo committed to George Washington.
