Ocean Softball Returns With A New Look By Michael Rogers
The Ocean Township girls’ softball team is coming off of a successful 19-7 season (10-2 in B North Division) and after the graduation of two of the best players in the history of Ocean softball (Gianna Kinhofer and Jenna Ambrosio) the Spartans will look toward a new era of Ocean softball. Both Kinhofer and Ambrosio were 4-year starters with Kinhofer being a pitcher and shortstop finishing with a career pitching record of 47-23 with a 1.75 ERA and striking out an incredible 480 batters in 433 innings. She also hit .442 in her career with 99 hits, 16 home runs and 81 RBIs. Ambrosio finished with a .341 batting average with 53 hits and 37 RBIs. Ocean will move on to this season with some talented players returning as well as some upcoming players with talent. With 12 seniors returning and some promising freshmen the Spartans should once again challenge in the B North Division. Sabrina Batista returns at shortstop after batting .249 last season with 53 hits and 37 RBIs while Emily Butler also returns to the infield after batting .312 last season with 25 hits and 15 RBIs. The outfield returns Kelli Shapiro who
hit .270 last season with 30 hits 15 RBIs while Veronica Woehr returns and will play first base and catcher. She hit .270 last season with 22 hits and 16 RBIs. Kaitlyn Pascua returns after batting .231 last season with 21 hits and 16 RBIs. Some other players returning to strengthen the Spartans are Kayla Ventolo, Francesca Karpicki, Becky Fackenthal, Victoria Dandurand, Ashley Mejias, Liz Scagnelli, MacKenzie Claire, and Kate Maggs. Some newcomers that will also have an impact this season are Cassidy Kruse, Courtney Deiber, Courtney Rogers, Michaela Pemberton and two promising freshmen in pitcher Giovanna Russanno and catcher Morgan Walsh. Ryan Pringles takes over as head coach for Mark Frankel after coaching the junior varsity for 3 seasons. The Spartans open the season on the road against Long Branch on April 2nd before the home opener against Wall on April 4th. With the returning talent and the newcomers to the Ocean roster the Spartans should once again challenge for the B North division crown as well as the Shore Conference and state tournaments.

Indians Baseball Looks To Improve By Michael Rogers
The Toms River South baseball team this season has expectations of improving on last year’s record of 18-9 (9-5 in A South division) as head coach Ken Frank enters his 37th season on the bench. He is the winningest coach in New Jersey with a career record of 791-252-2. The Indians return a young team to the field as they look to compete in the always-tough A Division. Toms River South began the season with an opening day showdown against crosstown and division rivals Toms River East. The Indians came up on the short end of the scoreboard as the Raiders scored two runs in the 6th inning to break up a 1-1 tie as the Indians lost by the score of 3-1. Russell Messler scored the lone run for the Indians as he walked then scored on a ball as he was stealing home. Messler returns after batting .500 last sea-
son with 7 home runs, 20 RBIs and 40 hits to lead Toms River South to go along with his 22 stolen bases.
Some other players returning this season are Ryan Shifter who hit .341 last season with 18 RBIs and Tyler Mettolt
toms river south baseball
who returns as a pitcher and compiled a record of 3-1 last season with a 1.44 ERA. Another pitcher returning is Vin-
ny Scrudato who started against Toms River East and took the tough defeat in the opening game. He finished with a 2-0 record last season with a 2.17 ERA and will be counted on this season. Christian Campbell, Dylan PiPolvere, Spencer Kapp, and Jesse Polozzo all return to the Indians this season. Some new players looking to earn some playing time are Austin Gonella, Anthony Garfora, Tyler Fogler, Chandler Thompson, Ray Liguori, Trevor Wagner, and Mark DiBlasi. Coach Frank liked the way his team played against Toms River East and said, "Opening day is a hard day to win. We played well at times and with only one hit were still in the game." The Indians next game is at Lacey on 4/3 before a home game against Brick on 4/9.

Eagles Look to Soar to Postseason

MIDDLETOWN— Coach Ryan Spillane has overseen a nice run of baseball at Middletown South. Entering his sixth season on the job, the Eagles are 80-49 under his stewardship. After going 14-11 overall and 9-5 in the Class A North Division in 2013, South should be in line for at least similar results this spring. The Eagles have a few holes to fill from graduation, but a number of seniors with experience return to lead another postseason charge. Shortstop Kyle Brey is one of the top hitters in the lineup. He could also see some time on the mound. Fellow football teammate Andrew Wisialko returns in the outfield and at pitcher. Christian Penk is another returning senior who will see most of the time at catcher. Tom Marinello will play third base and at catcher when Penk needs a break from those duties. “We feel a lot better where we’re at after the pre-season,” explains Wisialko. “We lost nearly every pitcher
from last year but guys have been stepping up and we went 5-2 in the pre-season.” The Eagles will get some reinforcements from a host of juniors and sophomores including junior pitchers Colin Bergin and Zach deRocco. Austin Markman, Zach Schild, and Johnny Zega are sophomores who could crack the lineup. “We will have a few sophomores starting so getting those guys to settle in for their first varsity season is going to be key for us,” Wisialko said. South competes in the challenging Class A North Division, however, even the frontrunner, CBA, lost a lot of talent from last season. Freehold Township, Howell, and Middletown North also look to be contenders, but the Eagles expect to be right there in the hunt for first place and certainly for another playoff-bound season.

Hoping To Defend Their Wall Seeks Another Championship Division Title By Joseph Reyes
The Monmouth Regional Falcons have high hopes entering the 2014 season coming off of a State Championship. “We hope to qualify and defend our title”, says Coach Paul Crivello who spent the past ten years as an assistant coach for the Falcons. This is his first season as the Head Coach and faith in another championship run couldn’t be higher.
ence Tournament as well. “It is a tough Class A Central Division, but we have what it takes to compete with them,” Crivello says.
There is a big void to fill after pitcher Tom Broyles graduated. Broyles led the Shore Conference in strikeouts and ERA last season. 13 seniors graduated from last season’s championship roster. “We are young and ready to compete,” says Crivello as he gets his roster ready. There are 4 returning players from last season. Zach Centrella (Senior), John Bonczyk (Junior), Dan Valerio (Senior) and Matt Vincenti (Junior). Centrella pitched 25 innings last season and joins captains Bonczyk and Valerio. Due to an injury at first base, Vincenti will start the season at first base. Besides State Championship aspirations, Coach Crivello would like to compete for the Monmouth County Tournament and the Shore Confer-

CLASS A NORTH PREDICTED FINISH:
CBA MIDDLETOWN SOUTH FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP HOWELL MIDDLETOWN NORTH MANALAPAN COLTS NECK MARLBORO CBA is the favorite after winning the division last year, but they did lose some offensive talent to graduation. Outfielders Ryan Ramiz and Will Morgan are two keys on offense. Middletown South tied for second in 2013 and returns enough talent to contend again. The Patriots bring back a host of seniors and are poised to have a much better finish than last year. Howell is in a similar situation and early indications are that Middletown North could surprise. The A North is strong top to bottom and it could be one of the more wide-open years in a while.
CLASS A CENTRAL
PREDICTED FINISH:
RED BANK CATHOLIC ST. JOHN VIANNEY MONMOUTH REGIONAL
HOLMDEL RUMSON-FAIR HAVEN SHORE REGIONAL RARITAN MANASQUAN
RBC is the defending champion and did not lose a division game last year. The Caseys are also fresh off a Monmouth County Tournament title. The A Central is likely going to RBC. SJV returns 12 seniors and is a strong favorite for second place. Holmdel looks ready to take a step forward and Monmouth Regional has a new head coach. Any team in this division could end up as a playoff contender if things break their way.
CLASS A SOUTH PREDICTED FINISH:
JACKSON MEMORIAL TOMS RIVER SOUTH TOMS RIVER NORTH BRICK MEMORIAL TOMS RIVER EAST BRICK TOWNSHIP SOUTHERN LACEY Always one of the best baseball divisions, the A South will be a battle likely between Jackson Memorial, TR South, and TR North. The Jaguars are the most well-positioned to repeat as champions. TR
North is dangerous as they won the Shore Conference Tournament and Ocean County Tournament last year. The Indians have Ken Frank, the winningest coach in NJ, and return outfielder Russell Mesler who hit .500.
CLASS B NORTH PREDICTED FINISH:
WALL OCEAN MATAWAN FREEHOLD BORO RED BANK REGIONAL NEPTUNE LONG BRANCH Wall is poised for a repeat after going 22-6 overall in 2013. Pitching will be a strength with seniors Tyler Swiggart and Steve Coltrain anchoring the rotation. Ocean also has a strong pitching staff that will keep them in games while their offense develops. Matawan, Freehold Boro, and Red Bank Regional are playoff contenders.
CLASS B CENTRAL PREDICTED FINISH:
ST. ROSE POINT BEACH MATER DEI KEYPORT KEANSBURG HENRY HUDSON RANNEY ASBURY PARK The Purple Roses were undefeated in the division last year and
could be set to do that again. Point Beach has a lot of seniors from a group that knows how to win from football and basketball. Mater Dei finished second last year and should be in the playoff mix.
CLASS B SOUTH
PREDICTED FINISH:
CENTRAL JACKSON LIBERTY POINT BORO MANCHESTER BARNEGAT MONSIGNOR DONOVAN PINELANDS LAKEWOOD Central has ace pitcher Andrew DiPiazza who is drawing college and MLB interest. They already defeated Jackson Liberty last week so they have a leg up for the division early on. It should come down to those two for the division crown. Point Boro, Manchester, Barnegat, and Monsignor Donovan are playoff capable.

CLASS A NORTH PREDICTED FINISH:
Middletown South Howell Middletown North Freehold Township Colts Neck Manalapan (Players to watch: Tessa Latrenta-Colts Neck, AnneMarie Bartow-Howell, Tiffani Lambert-Middletown South) Middle South will once again be the team to beat with a good returning core of their offense and will need to lean heavily on the arm of Tiffani Lambert. This season won’t be an easy one in A-North as the Rebels and Lions look to close the gap on the Eagles.
CLASS A CENTRAL PREDICTED FINISH:
St John Vianney Red Bank Catholic Raritan Manasquan Monmouth Regional Shore Regional Holmdel Rumson (Players to watch: Jackie Gallagher-SJV, Jennifer Mancino-RBC, Emily Schaffer-Raritan) With the injury to Vianney pitcher Katie Benoit who is out for the season, the Lancers will look towards Ashley Ventura to carry the
pitching load. The injury opens the door for the rest of the division to catch the Lancers, but with Jackie Gallagher, Kate Baron and Erica Krumbine in the mix the Lancers should be able to hold off RBC and Raritan who are both much improved from last season.
CLASS A SOUTH PREDICTED FINISH:
Toms River East Toms River North Jackson Memorial Toms River South Lacey Brick Memorial Southern Regional (Players to watch: Casey Charterina-Brick Memorial, Gianna DePalma-TRE, Sam Vogel-TRS) New coach, same result for the Raiders. New Head coach and former East player Meghan Wood takes over the East post and looks to continue the Raiders tradition of excellence. With Gianna DePalma, Val Hirschfeld and Alyssa Cenci leading the way, the Raiders should once again be competing for another SCT and NJSIAA title.
CLASS B NORTH PREDICTED FINISH:
Wall Township Ocean Township Red Bank Regional Matawan Freehold Boro Neptune Long Branch
(Players to watch: Dani Petrone-Wall, Jess Stevenson-RBR, Veronica Woehr-Ocean) Wall Township and Ocean should once again be competing for B North supremacy a rivalry that dates back to the early 90’s. Wall might have the edge with their senior lead group of Dani Petrone, Amanda Pringle, Jen Guerriero and Alex Doman. This division will be fun to watch especially with the emergence of Red Bank entering the fold.
CLASS B CENTRAL PREDICTED FINISH:
Mater Dei Prep St Rose Pt Pleasant Beach Henry Hudson Keansburg Keyport Ranney Asbury Park (Players to watch: Emilie Boman-Mater Dei, Haylee Angelucci-Pt Beach, Marissa Mancuso-St Rose) Coming off a dream season, the Seraphs of Mater Dei Prep will not be taking anyone by surprise this season. They enter as the team to beat and should have the
firepower on offense once again to do it. Emilie Boman, Erin Batz, Audrianna Miller and newcomer Kaylee Anthony look to pound Mater Dei in the SCT and NJSIAA title mix. St. Rose and Pt. Beach will be a tough out for Mater Dei this year.
CLASS B SOUTH
PREDICTED FINISH:
Central Regional Pinelands Jackson Liberty Manchester Barnegat Monsignor Donovan Pt Pleasant Boro Lakewood (Players to watch: Stephanie Healy-Pinelands, Stephanie Pepper-Central-Kerry Butler-Barnegat) This division may come down to the final two weeks of the conference season as Central, Pinelands, Jackson Liberty and Manchester all have the returning players to take over the division. Central might have the edge though with a deep returning class that includes Lindsey M a h n ken, Kylie Smolock and Stephanie Pepper.

Improve on 2013 Season By Keith Davis
The 2014 Colts Neck softball team is looking to improve upon a disappointing 2013 season. The Cougars posted a 4-13 overall record a year ago, and won only two games in the Shore Conference A North division. Their 2014 campaign began on the right foot on April 2 when the Cougars edged division opponent Marlboro, 5-4. This year's Colts Neck varsity squad is veteranheavy, with six rising seniors: Infielders Taylor Terlizzi and Natalie Bankert – both four-year varsity players, outfielder Alessandra Randazzo, pitchers Tessa Latrenta and Loriana Attanasio, and utility player Sabrina Barsky. Junior shortstop Meghan Royle, the Cougars' leadoff hitter who led the team in hits, doubles, triples, runs scored, and average in her sophomore season, junior corner infielderoutfielder Molly Jackson,
and sophomore catcher Natalie Farparan also return from last year's team. They'll be joined by junior newcomers Dana Singh, Jackie Singh and Lauren Piccolini, along with sophomore utility player Mackenzie Forker. Dana Singh drew the starting assignment in center field in the Cougars' opener, while Jackie Singh served as their designated player. “We have a strong team dynamic,” fifth-year coach Julie SaporitoAcuna said of the 2014 Cougars. Citing her team's experience, she
added that, “we have the confidence and initiative needed to succeed in our conference. I feel like we'll make an impact.” The Cougars have division road games at Howell on April 4 and Middletown South on April 8 before hosting A North foe Freehold Twp. on April 10. After a pair of non-division games at Colonia and against Old Bridge, they’ll resume division play against Middletown North on April 16 before looking to complete a season sweep at Marlboro on April 22.

Wall Softball Continued from page 10
“The team is really close so we feel good about it,” says Pringle. “I think we’re going to go really far and have a strong team like always.”
“A lot of my seniors graduated last year so I have to trust the new freshmen and sophomores that came in,” says Howarth. “I have to trust the defense behind me and they are really stepping up so far.” Indeed, the infield could be the key to Wall’s season. If the underclassmen can fill in and play sound defense, the Knights have the pitching and offense to make a run at all the accomplishments they hope to reach. Given their history and sound coaching, Wall softball looks poised for another fine season.

Jags Look To Continue Success By Mike Ready
JACKSON – Although hit hard by graduation, the Jaguars still appear to be the team to beat again this season in the Class A South division. The Jaguars took their biggest hits at catcher, where they lost first team All-State and All-Shore catcher Matt Thaiss. Thaiss was a 32nd round selection of the Boston Red Sox in last year’s amateur draft, but will continue his career at the University of Virginia.
Jackson does return first team All-Shore selection Matt Guarino, who will be counted on at the plate as well as on the mound. The first baseman/pitcher hit .411 with a 1.089 OPS including a .621 slugging percentage. He belted three home runs and drove in 31 runs with nine doubles, a triple and 20-runs scored. On the mound, he was 3-1 with a 2.28 ERA in 27.2 innings of work with a tidy 1.397 WHIP.
starting rotation. He will look to do what Guarino did last season and become a two-way player while hoping to break out at the plate. Last season he hit .250 with .617 OPS while driving in eight runs with two doubles, 13-runs scored and six stolen base Sophomore Kyle Johnson returns at third base after a stellar freshman campaign where he batted .355 with a .812 OPS while driving in
sophomore with significant playing time. Petrizzo, who will also DH, had a solid 2013 season, hitting .345 with a .892 OPS with 14 RBI’s, two doubles, a triple and 10 runs scored, while DeMaio recorded a .295 batting average with a .691 OPS, 12 RBI’s, five stolen bases and 11 runs scored. Junior Matt Crispe will see plenty of action in the outfield as well after hitting .250 in
Also moving on was first team All-Shore shortstop Spencer Young now the starting shortstop for Brookdale Community College - and pitchers Anthony Rocco and Chris Gehrsitz. Rocco was a second team All-County performer, named to the Coaches Class A South All-Division team and is currently pitching for Pace University, while Gehrsitz was third team All-Ocean County and is pitching for Ocean County College. The Jaguars won 23 games last season and were a perfect 14-0 in Class A South play. They were ranked second in the final Shore Conference poll behind No.1 ranked Toms River South, who they lost to in the finals of the Ocean County Tournament and again in the semifinals of the Shore Conference Tournament. As the No.2 seed in the NJSIAA Group 4 playoffs, the Jaguars made a nice run into the semifinals before running into a buzz saw and getting shutout, 2-0, by Brick Memorial ace Brian Cottrell on four hits. Cottrell was third team AllState and a first team AllShore pick after going 6-1 and striking out 81 batters.
last season but nobody is expecting him to put up Thaiss like numbers. The Jaguars appear to have enough offensive firepower at other positions to allow Babin time to work with his pitchers and get comfortable behind the plate. Senior Rick Aviles (4.42 ERA in 6.1 IP), junior right-hander Ryan Takacs and sophomore left-hander Chris Hawryluk will join the rotation with the starting order working itself out as the season progresses. The Jaguars had an entirely new pitching staff at the start of last season and the feeling is that this year’s staff has the potential to duplicate the success of last year’s staff. All told, the Jaguars appear to have enough returning talent to overcome key losses and with the addition of some potentially dangerous new faces, they appear primed make another run at the division title and post-season tournaments. The Jaguars, ranked third in preseason polls, got off to a good start with a 5-0 win over Brick Memorial in Tuesday’s opening day festivities.

The Mater Dei Prep Looks To Build Off 2013 Campaign By Eric Braun
Middletown, NJ - The 2013 Mater Dei Prep girls’ softball team surprised many in the Shore Conference with an impressive 24-4 overall record and 14-0 B Central undefeated season. When asked last season by the Trenton Monitor about their success, Coach Jeanine Dickinson added before the season, “never in a million years did I think we’d be where we are, this is a great group of kids but they have far exceeded the expectations of what I or my coaches had.” The Seraphs will look to embark on Coach Dickinson’s 34th season as head coach by taking their play a step further in 2014. Last season while an impressive one, fell short in the semi-finals in both the Shore Conference Tournament and NJSIAA Non-Public B South Tournament. Mater Dei will look to avenge their 6-0 losses to Toms River East. Coach Dickinson returns 13 players with plenty of big game experience from last season as well as looking to implement 7 newcomers. The biggest hole the Seraphs will look to fill will be those of graduated shortstop Larisa Chiesa and fouryear varsity hurler in Jackie Nash. Returning seniors for Mater Dei Prep are Emilie Boman (3B), Tara Schneider (2B), Stephanie Sudzi-
arski (1B) Erin Batz (C), Audrianna Miller (OF) and Ashley Glynn (OF). Returning juniors and sophomores are Jamie Luminoso (SS/2B); Brooke Trotta (OF); Samantha Cavalli (C/OF); Maggie Klatt (P/1B/ OF); Kate Aumack (OF).

SAINT JOHN VIANNEY SOFTBALL HAS ONE GOAL FOR 2014: REPEAT By Mike Ready
HOLMDEL – The Lancers dream of repeating as Non-Public A champions was dealt two major blows before the season even started.
In addition, junior Claire Stefanelli, last season’s starting left fielder, went down with an ACL injury to her knee in the Shore Conference semifinals and is out for the year as well.
Their captain and first team All-State pitcher Katie Beriont sustained an ACL tear to her left knee during a state tournament playoff game against Red Bank Catholic, ending her high school athletic career.
The Notre Dame bound Beriont, 43-3 for her career, was lights out last season for the Lancers, going 26-2 with 15 shutouts, 235 strikeouts and a .062 earned run average. She was a terror at the plate as well, hitting .438 with 35
hits, 18 RBI’s, nine 2B and one HR. Stefanelli hit .387 last season and drove in 22 runs.
done the right way and I have very high expectations for her.”
Even with the loss of Beriont and Stefanelli the Lancers, winners of 29 games last season, are ranked No.5 in the Star Ledger preseason state poll and No.1 in the Asbury Park Press Shore Conference Poll.
Another freshman, Gianna Mavica, gets the starting nod in centerfield for the Lancers this season taking over for graduated first team AllShore performer Amanda Durham.
The Lancers, minus Beriont and Stefanelli still return six starters from last season’s team which won the Class A Central with a 14-0 record, the Monmouth County Tournament, the Non-Public South A title and the Non-Public A title. They lost to Toms River East, 3-1, in the Shore Conference Tournament finals, a loss that propelled them into their post-season run and eventual championship. At seasons end they were voted the No.1 team in New Jersey. Junior Ashley Ventura is handed the unenviable task of replacing Beriont after starting at first base last season and hitting .275 with 22 hits, 24 RBI’s, HR, and six 2B. On the mound, she went 3-0 in 14.2 IP with 21 strikeouts, so she does possess some valuable experience from the circle. First team All-State selection Jackie Gallagher returns to shortstop for her senior year. Gallagher led the Shore Conference with 53 hits while batting .510 with 40 RBI’s, HR, 3 2B and 3 3B. Second baseman Erica Krumbine is back after recording a .438 batting average with 35 hits including three doubles and 19 RBI’s while being named second team All-Shore last year as a sophomore. Also returning in the infield is third baseman Marlena Bevilacqua after batting .317 with 20 hits and 21 runs scored. She was a demon on the base baths stealing 14 bases and was flawless in the field from the hot corner.

Taking over at first base this season for Ventura is freshman Megan Masi. “Meg is very confident and eager to learn,” head coach Kim Lombardi said. “She works hard to get things

“Gianna is my leadoff batter and she really knows the game of softball,” Lombardi said. “She’s an exceptional hitter and I have high expectations for her as well.” “Neither of these freshmen feels any pressure,” Lombardi added. “They stay calm, focused and get the job done.” Back in right field is first team All-Shore pick Katie Baron. The senior standout led the team with 36 RBI’s and homers with eight. She hit .367 with 30 hits, five 2B and 12 stolen bases. Baron smacked a solo shot in the Lancers 4-2 over Immaculate Heart in championship game. Filling Stefanelli’s spot in left field will be a combination of sophomore Helena Coppola, last season’s designated hitter, junior Victoria Mohoney and junior Brianna Keelan. Coppola, who batted .351 with 16 RBI’s last season, will also see time at DH. Lombardi plans to rotate the three until one player finds a permanent home there. Junior Michelle King is back behind the plate and will see more at bats this season after serving as the primary flex last season. She is an excellent defensive catcher with a very strong arm. Junior Jess Carlucci will get the bulk of the starts as the designated hitter. At the time of printing, the Lancers had won their first two games, 25-0 over Rumson Fair Haven and 10-0 over Shore Regional. Ventura threw a four inning no hitter on opening day, striking out eight and walking one in the mercy rule win over Rumson and tossed seven innings of shutout ball, striking out 10 while giving up four hits in their win over Shore. The Lancers banged out 32 hits in the two wins with five home runs, two by Ventua.

CHRISTIAN BROTHERS ACADEMY Rebuilt For Another Title Run By Mike Ready
LINCROFT – CBA won the Class A North division title last year for the first time since 2009 with a 12-2 record and made it to the semifinals in both the Monmouth County Tournament and the Shore Conference Tournament.
out seven, surrendered four hits and ended up 1-0 with a 1.75 earned run average.
Mike Garvey and sophomore Nick Zuppe will all get looks.
At the plate, Ramiz hit .483 with a 1.175 OPS while driving in 12 runs with five double, a triple and 26 runs scored.
Despite these accomplishments and being ranked No.6 in the final Shore Conference poll, many feel the season fell below expectations after losing in the first round of the NJSIAA Non-Public South A playoffs to No.11 seeded Camden Catholic, 3-0, as the No.6 seed.
The Colts will fill out the rest of their pitching staff from the
Another huge hole the Colts need to fill this year is at first base where third team AllState and first team All-Shore pick Joe Dudek is now playing at University of North Carolina.
Three of CBA’s top four pitchers have graduated from that team, including two whom are pitching in the Atlantic Coast Conference – second team AllShore selection John McCarren gNews at Wake Forest and third team eySportin k.com\Jers o o b e c fa All-Shore pick Matt Pidich at Pittsburg.

The Colts have some first-class young talent to complement their returning starters and should be favored to win their second consecutive Class A North title and make a run in post-season tournaments.

Senior Ryan Ramiz, a second team All-Shore outfielder last season and Seton Hall recruit, will double as a pitcher this year after seeing very limited action on the mound last year. In four innings of work, Ramiz struck
Junior Will Morgan, who is committed to Old Dominion, will join Ramiz in the outfield after starting last season and hitting .354 with a .952 OPS. He drove in 16 runs, belted three homers, drilled four doubles and scored 17 runs. Junior Griffin Amott will

One of the Colts first orders of business this season will be to build a pitching staff around returning sophomore righthander Luca Dalatri, arguable the Colts best pitcher the latter part of last season. As a freshman last season, Dalatri went 5-2 with a 1.25 earned run average. He struck out 40 batters and allowed only 33 base runners in 39 innings.
Caputo is now at Seton Hall University. Caputo hit .402 with 17 RBI’s and was a major run producer for the Colts as well as being the first player in CBA history to go through an entire season without committing an error. He was flawless in 88 chances. Candidates to replace Caputo include Buccellato and junior James Miller, among others. Slick fielding Pete Papcun, a Monmouth University recruit, returns to third base and the Colts feel the senior will improve on last season’s numbers when he hit .263 with a .748 OPS and drove in 10 runs, hit a homer and a triple with three doubles. Papcun has power potential that the Colts can definitely use.
